If you are at all thinking about getting into 3D printing, do yourself a favor and stop by the store. I walked in, knowing next to nothing after having order a sidewinder x2 from the internet.
The staff here are incredibly helpful, even tho I didn’t purchase my printer from them ( which I wish I had, because their price on the x2 is almost $40 less), they tried to answer all my questions, as well as just being genuinely excited about 3D printing.
You can also feel good about shopping in there, I was willing to buy whatever I needed to, to get started printing. Instead of taking advantage of my ignorance and filling my cart full of parts and filament, they helped set me up with just a couple basics and some tips. The essentials to get me going.
This is the only place I buy my filament from now, and I plan on buying some of the parts they now carry for my x2. If nothing else stuck to head in and check out all the cool prints and the printers you can see in the back...
Read moreI dropped into the new location to buy some rainbow filament for an octopus I wanted to print for my daughter's birthday. The new space has plenty of room for inventory and a window to see what is going on with all the printers in the back. I was helped by a very knowledgeable gentleman and even though the rainbow filament was not available, he made a suggestion for one of the reels they made from several colors as an alternative. I'm happy I went with it because it creates a fun color combination and ended up as a cool present for my daughter. I'll definitely be heading over to HartSmart for any of my 3D printing needs in the future.
They also host a Meetup group that I may try to attend in the future. Seems like a good place to meet others interested in 3D printing!
PS to any advanced printers out there, I did level my print bed after this print because I was tired of cutting my thumbs while...
Read morelike a week ago I realized I never checked if there was a 3d printer store in Iowa and when I go to look it up turns out this place was just a 9 mile drive from where I live.
When I got to the store I was met with a friendly employee and a even friendlier corgi and a selection much better than I would've ever expected out of a little shop (in terms of sales floor their print on demand service seemed to take up a decent chunk of the physical building) in Urbandale. Not only was there great selection of color, material and quality but also full printers and parts, for either repairs or upgrades (mostly aimed at ender clones so if your printer is compatible I'd definitely check it out).
Over all great store especially if you're tired of waiting days for filament to arrive and then you even get to support a local business instead of throwing more money at amazon (or any other megacorp that you...
