Pancheros Mexican Grill - Urbandale — Restaurant in Urbandale

Ordered a steak quesadilla and two tacos. You'd expect there to be cheese but there was hardly any. The steak was extremely dry indicating that they're just letting it sit exposed to plain hot air. In addition, one of the workers didn't even address me at all, just refused to speak whatsoever and moved over to the register and let who I assume to be either the owner, manager, or just a more experienced worker make my food. She was considerate so I can't blame her for any of this, but while the order was being assembled, the original worker who ignored me then was just casually picking his ear before he handled my food to place it in the bag which was just disgusting. The queso was lacking flavor and quantity, the cheese was just lacking in general, and the steak was extremely bland and dry. The location closer to Jordan Creek hasn't had this problem so I know it's not an issue of Pancheros' in general, but it's a shame because I don't want to have to travel an hour just to order quality food. This pancheros is the best in town by far!!! But they service was severely lacking today!!!! I usually come to this location at least once a week if not more. This time I was not greeted & had very slow & RUDE service by a young what looked like high school boy & girl. I was the only one in there so figured things would be quick especially since there was 4 people working behind the counter. 1 thing I ordered was a cheese quesadilla (easiest thing you’d think) they didn’t even cook it all the way, the cheese was not melted on the inside. Enough that I could see it & mentioned to this young man. He looked at me & said it the rudest tone “I guarantee it’s cooked all the way”. Well no surprise upon my arrival home. It wasn’t!!!! Also one of my queso dips I ordered the lid was not securely place on & spilled all over everything in the bag & was obviously not edible at that point. VERY DISAPPOINTED in my experience today that I spent $50 on. I think there is a lot of lack of training going on recently. Hopefully this changes soon so I don’t have to change my go...

I gotta be honest- that might've been the best burrito I've ever had. So why not five stars you ask? Well- to be fair- it was like 7pm on Easter and the crew was pretty busy... so this is less of a complaint than it is an explanation.

1. There were only a couple of tables in the lobby that were cleaned off.
2. There wasn't any good sear on the chicken/caramelization on the fajita-veggies. Which is almost always a death-sentence but the meat and veggies still somehow had good flavor to them- like- I was fully expecting bland meat and raw veggies but somehow they were still really tasty. I don't know if they usually get that sear, but if they don't... that would take that burrito to mind-blowing proportions.

So definitely go here for that burrito fix.

Fresh tortilla made right there in front of you, on-point salsa verde, better queso than any competitors... AND THEY MIX THE INGREDIENTS IN YOUR BURRITO. It seems so minor but there's no "only-beans bite" or any of that disappointment that you usually get from poor...
