8 Failed Attempts, $2,200 in Damages, and No Accountability
I’ve had an incredibly frustrating experience with Home Depot, and after nearly eight failed delivery attempts for a washer and dryer, I’ve completely lost trust in their service.
Each time, the appliances either didn’t work properly or arrived with dents, scratches, or other damage. I was patient through all of this — eight times is more than enough patience for any customer to give. But despite that, the situation only got worse.
To make matters worse, during one of these attempts, my vehicle was damaged — costing me $2,200. Yet no one at Home Depot can help and send you to another company to take care of the vehicle damages and it’s been over a month now. When I went to the store to try and get help, I was told, “We can’t help you at the store level.” That’s unacceptable.
The store manager repeatedly told me she would contact me once everything was “set and done,” but I never heard back. I followed all the right steps, remained polite and patient, and gave them more than enough chances — and still, I’ve been left with broken promises, damaged property, and no resolution.
This isn’t just bad customer service — this is a complete breakdown in responsibility, communication, and basic professionalism. I’m leaving this review to warn others: if you expect quality service, working appliances, or accountability from Home Depot, you may be deeply...
Read moreI've been a Home Depot fan for a long, long time; and thankfully this Utica location continues to meet that quality. They always have a vast selection of items; from paper towels to plants to a new roof, you can find it here. The shop seems to always be well stocked and clean. There are well maintained restrooms available, and cutting stations can be found if needed. They offer a monthly kids crafts event, along with other, occasional, informative classes, and they always have great seasonal deals to take advantage of (both in-store and online). My visit today though, was of a different manner. I'm working to socialize my new pup, possibly as a service dog, and I was told Home Depot was a dog friendly store. Upon entering, I did stop at customer service to be sure it was allowed. The employee enthusiastically replied that all well behaved furry companions were welcomed at Home Depot, the only expectation is that the owners clean up messes. I was relieved and we happily went about our training. Honestly, it could not have been more of a positive experience for us. All of the employees we meet were very friendly, and we were acknowledged often seeing if we needed assistance. We did a few laps around the store, found a cute plant to commemorate my pups first in-shop (besides pet stores) adventure. It was a great shopping trip, I definitely can recommend the Utica location, and I'm sure I'll be...
Read moreWe spend six figures at Home Depot annually, and typically I don't need anyone to help me in the store. I know what we need, go in and grab it. But this store is by far one of the worst ones I deal with when it comes to having to interact with its employees. Recently, I had an issue with a piece of lawn equipment and tried returning it. I was outside the 30 day window to return gas products, which is completely understandable. But the way I was treated by the front desk staff doing returns that day was subpar to say the least. They cared more about getting back to their conversations they were having before I walked in. Thankfully, Brandon (ASM) was able to help me further and we resolved the issue. But this morning I had called about a Halloween decoration they have listed on their website that says it is available, in limited stock, and you have to visit/call the store. I called and the lady who answered could not have been more rude. "THEY'RE NOT ON SALE YET!!!". She could have easily explained that they are being stored up in the rack until a certain date to be released by corporate like the Shelby Township people so kindly explained to me when I called them. It seems like almost every single associate at Utica has an attitude and hates the customer. It has to be coming from leadership, which is sad as a former HD employee and a current business owner in remodeling. Do better...
