Terrible Experience at Crate & Barrel Outlet
I recently purchased a sofa at the Crate & Barrel Outlet and had an incredibly disappointing experience. Here's what happened:
Misleading Information About Damage: I noticed bowing in the front base of the sofa and asked the manager about it. He claimed it was "normal" and that the support was inside the fabric. When I got home, my husband removed the bottom fabric and found two major cracks in the frame. This was clearly not "normal"—the sofa was damaged, and the manager had misled me.
Dishonest Handling of a Stain: There was an obvious stain on the sofa, but the manager insisted it was just a "crease." It was insulting to my intelligence for him to try to dismiss something so obvious.
Inconsistent Statements from Staff: The manager claimed the sofa had just arrived on Wednesday, but another salesperson later mentioned it had been there for 1.5 to 2 weeks. This kind of inconsistency made me question their credibility and transparency.
Lack of Follow-Through: Since the fabric was discontinued, I asked for help identifying how to clean it. A staff member started looking into it but never came back to update me. I had to track down another salesperson to get assistance, which wasted my time.
Transparency Would Have Made a Difference: I understand outlet items may have imperfections, but I still expect honesty. I might have purchased the sofa even with the broken frame, as it’s very comfortable and I have the skills to repair it. However, the dishonesty about the damage and stain robbed me of the chance to make an informed decision.
This experience has shaken my trust in Crate & Barrel’s standards for customer service and integrity. Even at an outlet, transparency and accountability should be...

I’ve been a longtime fan of Crate & Barrel and have purchased several pieces of furniture from them over the years. I don’t mind paying a bit more for quality, I've always believed you get what you pay for. However, this outlet experience was a huge letdown.
Unfortunately, the majority of the furniture-I'd say about 90%-was in severely damaged condition. We're talking broken chair legs, cracked frames, missing doors... and yet, the prices were shockingly high. One example: a $299 chair with a broken leg. I'm not a carpenter, but even if I were, I wouldn’t consider that a deal. A cabinet with a cracked frame and a missing door was priced at $1,400, that’s just insulting.
To be fair, the dishware was in good condition, but still priced on the higher side for an outlet. Overall, the visit was frustrating. If you’re genuinely looking for discounted furniture in decent shape, you'd probably have better luck at a local thrift store or Habitat for Humanity.
Crate & Barrel is known for quality, which makes this experience even more disappointing. I...
Read moreLOW QUALITY PRODUCT AND IRRESPONSIBLE STORE!! We bought a chair and cost $150. After 2 weeks it broke and I failed to the floor when sitting. We found the crack already existed before we bought and it was glued and hidden inside of the cover which was not possible to find out. We went to store again with 90 miles driving and the manager named Amanda said they never check the quality but our buyer needs to take charge of all quality issue as it’s final sale even it’s been hidden.
So you can image you buy a sofa/chair/anything you cannot detect it’s inside there. It’s not possible for you to cut and open the skeleton inside. And then you found its skeleton is broken before you bought it and the store glued it perfectly - which you are not possible to find out. And the store doesn’t take any responsibility of its quality issue. Crate and Barrel doesn’t take charge of the OUTLET store either.
DONT GO. It’s waste of your...
