Yesterday I took 16, 11"x17" pages to the Venice store to get laminated. First, I asked if they had an old-school paper cutter so that I could trim some excess off the ends of a few of the pages. They don't and Shawn wasn't sure if the electronic cutting machine would work on 11"x17" paper. I was also told I would be charged for any cuts they attempted, so I passed. He showed me the lamination sleeves, even slipping one of my pages inside to show me how it would look. With it centered and straight, it looked OK so I decided to skip any cutting. As he typed up the order, I noticed two prices. $58+ if I picked them up tomorrow and $78+ to have it done today. It was 5pm, I was the only customer in the store, there were two employees in the copy center doing nothing, but I have to pay an extra $20 for them to do their damn job?!? I decided to take the cheaper option and drive back to Englewood. When I got home, sure enough I got an email saying it was ready to pick-up (I should have just stayed). I picked them up today, got home (big mistake not checking them before leaving), and found that NONE were centered, some weren't straight. What a waste of $60 and two trips to Venice. Shopping for a new laptop I entered the store with a good idea of what needs I had. The associate did a needs and use annalasys and confirmed what I was thinking, plus added a few other ideas. We narrowed it down to one, and the associate immediately did a transformation into selling a protection package for the laptop. Warranty, virus protection and data transfer from my old laptop. $369 laptop, $480 protection package! 🤔 I asked how long I had to decide on the package if I bought the laptop today, in fact I had to ask that three times and he never did give me an answer with a yes or no. I'm wanting to buy a new computer unfortunately this will be the third that I purchase and I refuse to go to Best Buy anymore because of fraud problems I had due to their Geek Squad access. I was pleased that I actually got more service from Staples than I ever got at Best Buy. The sales rep answered a lot of questions because my concern was the quality of the computer as opposed to what it does; in other words is it going to wear out in another 2 years like everything else I bought in the past.
