Less than impressed, though not "bad."
I got the General Tso's lunch combo and a Pu Pu Platter for two. Food was ready and hot, on time. Fried items had that slightly burnt taste from not-so-fresh fryer grease, tho just speculation. Tso's was tasty (not spicy, tho it rarely is anymore), however I'm not a fan of the fried rice that is yellow and has peas in it. Would have substituted "plain lo mein," but an additional $2 seemed excessive for a lunch special. Probably my mistake. Egg rolls were good. Teriyaki beef skewers were delicious, the highlight. Fried chicken wings were good, tho not what I'd expected from another review. Spare ribs (dry and not meaty at all) actually upset me, the only true failure, other than the yellow fried rice stuff. Maybe some people like the pilaf style with Chinese food... It's too bad places don't respond to these reviews with attempts to show it was a one-off. I'd pay for a do-over attempt, but only with the promise of attempted redemption. I'll update if that ever...
Read moreThis is literally the only edible Chinese food in Venice. It’s not my all time favorite, because I come from NJ and NYC where the greatest Chinese takeout in the country is. But there are some pretty good things here, which is excellent compared to every other place in Venice. The wonton soup, boneless spareribs, sweet and sour pork, egg roll and general tso’s chicken are all good. I go here sometimes once a week and don’t get tired of it. The only things I haven’t liked from here are the bourbon chicken, which was really dry and needed a lot more sauce and the fried rice, I really don’t like the fried rice here. It’s the only place I’ve ever asked for white rice with a combination platter. The service is the fastest I have ever comes across. My food is always ready in 5 minutes without fail. It’s definitely worth a visit. It’s 4 stars in Venice. In Sarasota, it would be more like 3 stars. Still...
Read moreI ordered takeout online from their restaurant website, which I like. My order was estimated to be ready in approximately 30 minutes which is a long stretch for one entrée and a cup of soup. I arrived approximately 10 minutes after I placed my order in which to my delight my order was already packaged and waiting for me.
I ordered Mongolian beef with fried rice and a cup of hot and sour soup. Let’s start with the beef… visually all you see is onions i guesstimate I received approx 6 pieces in various sizes of beef. Not very much. The flavor was very good. The fried rice I found to be bland, as with the soup. Light sour, light spice. Overall I would likely try them again but I wouldn’t rate...
