🤠📖. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟+ A very enjoyable store. Have you ever seen the movie, 'You've got Mail'? The movie starred Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan. This kind of puts you in that mood, LOL. a very relaxing place, not like the old Barnes & Noble that was there before. I would be remiss not to mention Barbara's manager, Ryan, he's a big help and an asset to the store. I like his eagerness to assist not just me but all of the customers that were in the store at the time I was there. The schedule of celebrity book signings was impressive, and the the amount of titles and best sellers is second to none. The coffee is really really good. A great place for book club gatherings and just to browse magazines, papers and books. Small chain, a lot of substance. It takes Moxie to compete with the big chains, Barbara's does it well without blinking, LOL. This is a 5 + star store. I also almost forgot to mention the theater classes and productions they put on in the store, a great place for kids to learn the trade. Remember the Master Thespian 😒Jon Lovitz from Saturday night live? He used to say, "just acting"...
Read moreThankful I had the opportunity to stop in at this beautiful independent bookstore, located right on the outside of Chicago. Barbar's Bookstore hosted an author event for Porsha Williams "Pursuit of Porsha" novel. From my first experience, to actually having the opportunity to meet Ms. Williams at the store, I had an amazing professional, kind and friendly interactions with both the team members at the bookstore as well as with Ms. William's team.
Pursuit of Porsha, did not disappoint. The book was heartfelt, well written and enduring. Ms. William's Did an amazing job of taking the reader on a journey and a journey and explaining the how's and why's along the way. For the past few years or more, I have seen her on a wide media scale and it was very connecting to read about the journey getting there and who she is and was as a person before the person we would grow to learn to know. I highly recommend taking time to let this author into your world. Read she is kind and has an amazing...
Read moreIf you don’t accept cash have a sign with said policy. Dont accept a hundred dollar bill. Look the customer up and down like she is a thief while checking the hundred dollar bill if it is counterfeit then when you discover its good say “actually i dont think we accept this unless you spend over $60.” Rude, unprofessional and embarrassing. My 21 year old daughter was spending her Christmas bonus from work on gifts and felt humiliated but still paid with her debit card. I would have walked out. Barbara’s was always our first choice as avid readers we prefer spending our money at smaller book stores over big chains…i would rather go back to...
