Wardrobe Rescue — Local services in Vienna

This was the worst customer experience I’ve ever encountered. You know that scene in pretty woman when the two blonde ladies make Julia Roberts feel like the gum on the bottom of their Louis Vuttons, that sums up my experience at Wardrobe Rescue, a consignment store of all places.

I called the store earlier in the day mentioning that I had several items including some cocktail dressed and fall boots. Upon entering, the two sale staff stood over the clothes I brought in snickering and murmuring negative things about them for 35 minutes. Mind you, I brought in popular brands like Banana Republic, Nordstrom’s ect., but even if I brought something in from the dollar store, I’d expect staff to still treat me with dignity and respect.

When they finally were through sifting through my clothes, they asked for my name three times and acted as if I didn’t have an appointment there. When I reminded them I had spoken to them just a few hours earlier, one of them asked condescendingly “where were the cocktail dresses you had mentioned on the phone then?“ as if I didn’t know what a cocktail dress was. I then had to point out the cocktail dresses on the rack of clothes I brought. While they picked 2 things out of the many clothes I brought in, the experience left such a bad taste in my mouth I won’t be taking any money for the clothes, nor will I ever enter their store again.

I typically eBay my pre-owned designer clothing but I decided to try out a consignment shop for the first time. WORST DECISION EVER! Not only did none of my items sell but I am now missing 2 original Stuart Weitzman shoeboxes so that if I want to try to sell them on eBay my resale value has now decreased significantly! On top of that the lady denies losing my shoeboxes even though she admits they typically keep them so that if purchased they can give them to the customer. The store failed to mark the tags to say that my items came with the original boxes and she now refuses to admit that could have been their error. I know for a fact that when I brought my items in they were in their original boxes and I did not go home with the boxes because I left with a bag of items they were not interested in and that bag did not have any boxes in it! I remember the day I went in to consign my items I didn’t find the workers there to be particularly friendly but today the lady was straight up rude! She even followed me out of the store and said “well what are you going to do about it?” And I said I would write a negative review. She said “go ahead! I’ll just write back about your attitude!”. Well the only reason I gave attitude is because they essentially lost a portion of the items that I consigned. So never again am I consigning or shopping here and you better believe I am writing negative reviews all...

There is apparently an audience soft-spot of people spending 50-200 dollars on everything at this store. As such if you leave something here, it doesn't matter if you paid 3k retail, and can sell for a lot more online, it will be most likely be priced around 200 or less no matter what. Be prepared for that when you leave things here. Also when you make an appt to drop things off, you do not get told at the appt what your item will be priced to start . It's either take it or leave it when you show up for your appt. They price it the way they feel like after you are gone. You need to feel like you would be ok if you sent it to donation and just be glad you got a little back. If you are looking for fair market vaIue, go somewhere else. I left a lot of things including some gifts I received from friends when I was in my 20's. I was unsure about the authenticity. The store owner hands it back to you with no words. She doesn't claim it's fake, she doesn't explain her reasons, she doesn't say anything. Even though I was just looking for some answers about authenticity from a so called expert, I got none and felt like she was implying I was trying to pull something on her.
