Avoid this theater!!! AMC should be ashamed. This is the most horrible movie theater I have ever had the displeasure of visiting. The first thing you'll notice is the most noxious stench of sewage as you enter the lobby. The next thing you'll notice is that the box office is not staffed by a human. There is a self-service kiosk to purchase tickets. Afterwards, we simply passed into the snack counter area without so much as showing our tickets to anyone. Not even a notice by anyone whether we even purchased a ticket. Which should be a major RED FLAG safety concern in today's society. After purchasing a large popcorn and soda, from a seemingly disinterested and less than gracious attendant, we navigated undirected to find which theater we were to see our chosen movie. On the way, we discoved the source of the horrid odor. The restrooms, both men's and women's, were disgustingly unclean and rank. The men's room had standing water on the floor. And a few of the stalls looked as if they hadn't seen a toilet scrub in months. We finally made it to our theater, after a few moments of debate as to whether or not we should continue the experience. We decided to push on, and see what would happen next. Stale popcorn, that was next. The 12 dollar bucket of popcorn was stale. Not just stale, but cold and stale. I mean, feed it to the pigeons STALE. I will say that the viewing experience was not as terrible. The seats, while older and worn, were not as uncomfortable as expected. The film presentation was unremarkable, with no lighting, sound, or viewing issues. The one bonus is that we were literally the only two people in the theater room. A private showing, or the fact that word is out to avoid this place. We visited on a Sunday afternoon, and there were less than a dozen patrons in the 16 theater multiplex. Let me say this before the business management attempts to dismiss my assessment. This is not an isolated incident at this establishment, nor our first visit. We had a very similar experience a few years ago, pre-pandemic, at this theater. Same smell, same service, same product. The ONLY reason we returned for this visit is due to the movie we were there to view. The next nearest theater showing was in Winter Park, 50 miles away. In hindsight, we should have taken the drive. AMC Executives, if you're reading this, please take note and corrective action. This place is not only a terrible representation of your franchise, but also a health and safety liability for...
Read moreConveniently located, that's about the best part of this theater.
Entrance/Foyer: In the arcade/fun area about half of the games were working.
The carpets are dingy/dirty/old and it has the feeling of an old run down theater that's probably closing soon.
In Theater: The seating in the "digital" format movies is old, wonky, squeaky and uncomfortable compared to other theaters I've been to and also compared to the advertisement we have to watch of Nicole Kidman walking through this amazing theater and show us how great it is, the seats are leather recliner looking chairs in the advert, yet we're sitting in what feels like a seat on a cheap airline. Again, the theater is dirty, most recently sat in for a movie on screen 7, there were "coincidentally I assume" 7 white dots along the left 20-25% of the screen running top to bottom that you could see during almost the entire movie and some sort of lines vertically through the center of the screen as well, these seemed to be physical imperfections as they were seen through the adverts as well.
Restrooms: The bathrooms ... well, I've had the privilege of using them all because I have a 6yr old ... and my 6yr old has only been here twice and doesn't want to go into the bathrooms anymore because of the stinch. They are the worst public restrooms I have ever stepped foot in, and they saying something since I've traveled through the depths of Newark and deployed overseas for months at a time.
Summary: I would love for this AMC to be great, but it's not up to par with the advertisements they present to people, it's convenience is the only reason I continue to use it or else I would be attending movies elsewhere.
Update 1/16/23 : Bathrooms smell slightly better this time around, seating is still uncomfortable ... went to see the new Avatar, had to walk up front to tell them that theatre 15 was off-center on the screen, no one fixed it for the whole movie, top portion of the screen had a black line that easily identified it as off-center, plus you could see the bottom portion of the movie on the wall below the screen. The lights flickered on two or three times during the show, and the left side wall lights (while facing the screen) never dimmed down for movie viewing but the right side did. At this point, I don't even know if reviews are going to save this theatre, clearly they didn't listen while I was there...
Read moreWOW. The AMC Avenue 16, Melbourne, Florida theater staff are so very, very bad.
On December 12th we purchased tickets for the Open Captioned showing of Avatar at the AMC Avenue 16, Melbourne, Florida theater.
I checked online the morning of the 19th and saw that the open captioned showing was now listed as closed captions. I requested and received a refund.
Yesterday, 12/27/22, I purchased tickets for the 10:00AM closed captioned showing of Avatar 3D at the same theater. Upon arrival, my husband was given the closed captioned device for me to use. We sat in the theater. The display indicated it was ready. The trailers played. The display still indicated the device was ready. The movie started, and the device continued to display "ready."
I returned to the lobby. One young lady told me I needed to push the "connect" button, and certainly Mary Ann, the Manager, must have told me to push the button. I assured the girl, had my husband been told the push the button, he would have told me.
I returned to the theater. The device displayed ready, but no captions appeared. I returned to the lobby.
Mary Ann took the device, went into an office, and returned with two new devices. I returned to the theater with the ticket taker, and neither device worked. Back to Mary Ann. She told us there was another showing of Avatar about to start in a different auditorium. She tested the devices and set them for the new theater.
We entered the new theater and saw the trailers had captioned. Yay! The movie started and we realized the movie was not in 3D. Back to Mary Ann. She issued a refund.
There was no apology. No "I'm sorry." No additional considerations whatsoever.
I would think that considering the lack of crowds due to the lingering Covid concerns, every movie theater and staff would be bending over backwards to welcome and treat customers with respect. Nope. Mary Ann never even bothered to enter the theater to check if the original devices or the replacements were set correctly.
Does anyone...
