Vinton Computer — Local services in Vinton

Back in April of 2018 I bought a new computer from amazon and i needed to add some more memory to it , So i went to Vinton computer repair shop with my new desktop. Well, Bryan the shop manager rushed to meet me and I told him what i needed it, Bryan suggested that he has a better hard drive to put in my new desktop that is much better and faster .. and my desktop will be ready in few hours , when i went back to pick it up they did not include my original hard drive that came with my new desktop , and when I asked for it they said that I did not need it , But I insisted to have it back, a few minutes later the owner came from the back with my hard drive , and I took my original hard drive and left a few days ago, I just found out that my original hard drive is much better hard drive than the one they installed in my new desktop and that was my first surprise .. I decided to put my original hard drive back in, and that is when my second surprise was , They have deleted everything was on my original hard drive that came from the factory , it was completely blank. Not only that but found out after some research that my original hard drive which is 500gb sata 3 drive was much better in every way than the 128gb SSD hard drive that they put in my desktop . I went back up to the store to talk with the owner. But instead I met Bryan the store manager which is the same guy that deceived me . I told him about my concerns and I like for them to reinstall what was on my original hard drive and the fact that was unessasserly replacement for hard drives , Bryan did not like that and instead of making things right, he proceeded to escort me out of the store, I did not wanna escalate the situation and left .. and the only defence he had , that was a year and half ago ,, So they gave me a less of memory hard drive and I had to pay for it .. the did not wanna give me my original hard drive back , and when I took it from them , I found out it was blank. and they deleted everything was on it .and when i went back to ask them to make things right , I was escorted out of the store .. this my original hard drive description .. I took my laptop in to see what was going on with it. I turned out that the motherboard was bad so I purchased a nice used laptop from them for $250.00. They took my old laptop and said that they could use the keyboard and display for repairing other laptops, and they could resell the new charger cable that I purchased for it a few months ago... OK, cool.

To my surprise when I got home that evening my wife had bought me a new laptop from my birthday...how nice! I called Vinton Computers the next morning at 9:07am and said that I would like to return the laptop that I had purchased from them the night before. They said no problem, I had up to 14 days to return it with a 20% restocking fee...ok, that’s fair for all of the trouble and. When I arrived right after work the next day to return the laptop not only was I charged the 20% restocking fee, I was informed that my old laptop had already been completely cannibalized...ok, thing happen right. They must have torn it apart the night before working late, whatever. Since I couldn’t get my old laptop back I asked if they could at least waive the restocking fee of $50.00 or some type of compensation for my old laptop that I can’t get back and they are using for parts...Nope. So now I’m out $50.00, which is my mistake I know AND my old laptop.

I’m a very easy-going person and hardly ever complain but to me this just seems wrong. If I ran that business I would have at least given some type of compensation for the laptop that they took and used for parts.

Remember that if integrity is lacking in a small area it is probably everywhere within the business! And if I were you I would shop around...

My mother posted this on her Facebook page. She doesn't understand that it won't show on the Google Reviews. But hey, she's 80 and still using a computer.

If you have a computer problem or in the market for a new computer, go to Vinton Computers. My son, Scott Setchel, and grandson, Austin Setchel, took my DOA computer there yesterday.(10/29/22) Neither are easily impressed but oh my how they both were impressed. Reasonable, informative, and the best customer service we've experienced in a long time. Please give this company a try. I think you too will be impressed.

And might I, Scott, add, I worked for a professional corporation that stressed Customer Service. But sadly was actually lacking in it and was more worried about #s. That's all their customers were. But I was brought up to treat customers like family. It worked for my father for nearly 40 years.

And this was BY FAR the best customer service experience I've had in at least 15 years both LOCAL and National.

If you are looking for USED, New or a repair to your current computer, I can NOT RECOMMEND HIGHLY ENOUGH Vinton Computer Store. I just wish there were more than 5 stars.

When it is time for me to get a new one, or when (it's never an IF lol) my desktop needs help, you guys are my first call.
