In the 70s and 80s before it was taken over, I lived just across the street from here. Back then, this place had a true Chicano flavor. There was a real Chicano culture here and it was displayed in Aztec/Mayan murals, Chicano/brown pride displays, traditional dance classes, other dances, puppet theatres, and a beautiful lowrider mural along the span of the western wall of the park.
