As a retail manager, with the current state of brick and mortar stores, I had to share my experience. As I walked in with my daughter, excited about inheriting my gaming console, and learning about commerce, I was surprised to see the store manager sitting in the middle of her store with 2 other, assuming non-employees, playing Pokémon. No greeting, just welcomed with a, "OH, we don't take those games." Mind you, Gamestop makes it's profit from trading and reselling videogames. Wanting to give my daughter my PS4, we were trading in, or at least wanting to, older games so she could pick out a new, kid friendly game. Surprised at her unprofessionalism, the store manager continued, "You can go to another location as my surplus is TOO large for 'those' games." My only reply, somewhat embarrassed that my daughter just witnessed how snarky this world is, I replied, "Thats ok. We can afford to buy a game. Do you have 'title' in stock." Without any hesitation, and no attempt to search, "No, I don't." Again, embarrassed that my daughter is witnessing the reason behind Gamestops demise, i.e. lack of customer service, I replied, "We'll go spend our money elsewhere." Did I mention that NOT ONCE did the manager stand up from her pre pubescent game of Pokémon.
We did go elsewhere and were treated wonderfully by another employee. She asked my daughter for her name, she shared with her how excited she was to see her, and offered recommendations to her. Its a shame that a manager hadn't the experience to help her business move forward, preventing its ultimate digital demise, and an employee exemplified the characteristics needed to save this company. To you, employee, THANK YOU. To you, manager, hoping your card game was worth it.
We aren't looking for a reply, just attempting to salvage this companies once guest-facing-principle, "Power to...
Read moreWent to this GameStop location this past Friday. One other customer was there and passed exiting as myself, my six year old, and my spouse entered. The girl working the counter (think if Temu made a plus sized Emma Stone) was VERY rude, because we interrupted her conversation with her boyfriend (think “Clerks” extra) to trade in a system and some games to get my son new Nintendo Switch games. He is six, and a first-time gamer. Not only was she rude—the ONLY interactions we had with her directly were when she took our license and info, and for her to say the following (in front of my son) “This is going to take forever” “I hate trades” “I have already been at work for an hour” “I am overwhelmed”. Other than that, she chatted up her greasy boyfriend the entire 45 ish minutes we were there. I am very glad that her behavior toward us was in the presence of our son, because I would have handled her completely differently had he not been there. And yes, I did describe them so that they can be easily identified. It’s not my fault what they chose to look like. I called corporate, who did not care. When corporate realized that I was also recording for “quality assurance”, they hung up on me. I will be heading back to the store today to wait for a manager, or someone who understands their position and responsibilities on a cognitive level. People need...
Read moreI don’t even want to give this racist game stop a 1 star I came in with my fiancé on March 3, 2023 around 4:15pm and was racially profiled by a worker name Chris! That morning My fiancé purchased a used ps4 controller about 2-3 hours later we realized the controller wasn’t working properly so we went to return it. The worker by the name Chris was very rude and racist! He walked to the counter with an attitude and a disgusted look on his face. He snatched the controller from my fiancé hand and proceeded to inspect the controller. He then claimed that we were trying to scam him. He stated that the controller we just purchased was not purchased here and that it was very old. I stated that we just purchased this controller you can look at the time and date on the receipt. He then stated that he can clearly see that and he doesn’t believe us he felt as thought we were trying to scam him. When we asked if the associated who originally helped us was still on duty he walked to the back with an attitude. When he came back he then let us exchange the controller for a different one. All in all we spent 30 minutes in this game stop when it was supposed to be a quick exchange. I am disappointed that as an African American couple we were racially profiled, I thought this was a place that welcomed all sadly I see it’s not and won’t be coming to this...
