I use the, "does it deliver on its basic promise" rating system for restaurants, and based on that system Hibachi Japan really does deliver. And by that I mean that Hibachi Japan presents itself as a relatively low-cost restaurant. They are not trying to provide high-end cuisine or be a romantic date night restaurant. They offer good food, served quickly for a good price, and a quiet, clean table to eat it at. I should point out that I almost exclusively eat lunch here, getting the Hibachi chicken plus a fountain drink special for $9.99 {you can also get Teriyaki chicken for the same price.) The food is always good, hot, and quickly made. Quantity is more than sufficient and they do not skimp on chicken (I do sometimes wish for a few more vegetables). The meal comes with white/yumyum sauce, and hot sauce and ginger sauce on request (there may also still be a mustard sauce available - all the sauces were available in self-service form prior to Covid - but I didnt care for it that much and haven't asked). I have also ordered spring rolls here more than once. They are a bit larger than most other spring rolls, closer to the diameter of a regular Chinese restaurant eggroll, but they were...
Read moreI Just went to your restaurant a few minutes ago, and had the most horrible customer service as possible. I ordered a hibachi shrimp and a teriyaki Shrimp on the phone, and went to your location to get my order. I saw too many red-flags. The first one was no masks wearing. I understand, the cash register lady with the glasses is behind the shield you guys have up, but I do not know where she goes after she gets off of work or does during her daily life. So, out of curtesy I need her to have on a mask to protect everyone, even if she does not think it is not real or whatever she stands in this. The second one is she never used the hand-sanitizer that was available by you guys( the owners). A big bottle of protection for not only her, but all of us. Never used each time she handled money or food. She opened my food container to put the sauce in without a masks on and did not use the sanitizer. The last one, was throwing my food at me. I went to pay for my order and asked for a receipt and refused the first time. I asked again, and she gave me my receipt, but turned around and threw my food at me. This...
Read moreWe tried this place first time after seeing it a few months ago. It states they are Hibachi and Japanese, but the farthest thing from it. They are a glorified overrated high budget Chinese restaurant at best. We dined in and ordered multiple meals and appetizers that turned out to be horrible tasting. We didn't even want to fish the food once we saw it come to the table. Please see attached receipt and photos of food. The $80 spent was ridiculously high for the food provided. The shrimp tempura was all thick breading and no shrimp, the scallops were small bay scallops and not sea scallops as advertised, the rice was old and burnt tasting from the grill. We took 3 other orders home and ended up throwing them away because it tasted worse the next day. The best about this place was the duck sauce. Definitely, absolutely, NOT recommended. If you want a great tasting Chinese food place in Wake Forest, go to Lin's Garden on 1A downtown....
