I joined Atlas a month and a half ago and already I’m glad I made the change. Aidan is a great instructor. He gets to know all of his students individually and works with everyone wherever they are at in their jiujitsu journey. He closely supervises everyone and gives tips and advice to everyone. You never feel like you showed up and weren’t even noticed, let alone helped. The other students are all very kind and supportive as well, and there isn’t any of that “old boys club” feeling that some other gyms have, which makes me more comfortable training there. I started training at Atlas a little under a year ago. I spent the beginning of my life as a competitive wrestler from age 5 to age 25. Coming off a 15 year lay off I decided to get back into the grappling world. I attended a free class at Atlas Albany where I first met professor Aidan. Even with my past experience as a grappler I still walked through the door a ball of nerves. Professor Aidan quickly put my mind at ease. He showed me what a welcoming place Atlas was and started building my confidence right away. I knew this was where I needed to be and signed up the very next day. “Atlas is Family”. I’m going on a decade of training BJJ. I have had to move academies a few times because I have moved states multiple times in the past few years. Atlas is one of the best places that I have had the privilege to train at. Super friendly, positive and welcoming environment with top notch instruction and plenty of support to keep you going on this challenging journey of BJJ.

Putting all that good stuff aside, a few years ago, I found myself unemployed. And it was through Atlas, that I was able to land a solid job. When I was telling the black belt who helped me land the job how much I appreciated the help, he replied “No need. Atlas is Family”.
