A great, well stocked hobby shop with something for the young, old and everyone in between! With a courteous and friendly owner who is an expert on the wide variety of products that he sells, and who also knows a lot about the history of the hobby industry. A customer can learn a lot when shopping (or just browsing) here. And look upwards at the incredible overhead display of old model trains and toys. It is a veritable museum inside a hobby shop! The store is clean, well lit with wide aisles and everything displayed for sale on nice shelves and in beautiful glass cases. I have been a customer since 1967 (model trains, ships, planes, cars and trucks for 55 years continuously!) and my experience is that this has always been, is now, and will always be the best hobby shop around - Period!.. Great little shop, kind of a hidden gem. They've got a good variety and very fair prices, plus the inventory is always shifting so you never know what you might add to the stash. I build mostly armor but there's a good selection of aircraft and surprisingly varied ships. Mercifully the shelves are well organized too. They carry quite a number of Tamiya paints (including the rattle cans) and tons of misc supplies to restock with.

The staff are very friendly, always happy to answer questions and are also knowledgeable about a wide range of topics. There's a good vibe for people new to the hobby and enough depth of knowledge and product for people with more experience too.

I always read about and saw pictures in my old hobby magazines from the 60s about hobby shops from that time,back when the old 3 in 1 kits came out and kids built model airplanes and actually went outside to fly them.it would have been great to be around in those days,Apponaug color and hobby is the closest i will ever get to being back in the hay day of hobbies and simple times,this place is a time capsule,i felt like i went back in time, they have everything you can imagine for scale models,supplies, trains,paints,they even do repairs.the gentleman behind the counter was very friendly and helpful.i picked out a 32 ford vicky model kit i had been looking for.i will definately make this one of my stops anytime im in...
