7/29/25—So, I had my chiropractor appointment today, but uff, this heat was like walking straight into history’s hottest summer. I’m not an iced coffee drinker—normally I like my coffee like my adventures, hot and bold—but today I caved. I needed something cold, something that felt like a tiny victory over the sun.
Earlier, I had a small home-cooked meal. Nothing too fancy, but home-cooked food is like gold when you travel a lot. I have three more weeks before I hit the road again, so I’m enjoying these meals like they’re rare treasures.
I walked to this coffee shop, and it was buzzing—people chatting, laughing, the clink of cups, and the espresso machine puffing like a steam engine from the Industrial Revolution. I stood at the wrong register, missing the giant red sign that said ‘Order Here!’ Luckily, a kind gentleman let me go first. Chivalry lives on, my friends.
I ordered a small iced coffee with almond milk. The first sip was pure joy. If Benjamin Franklin said, ‘Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy,’ he clearly hadn’t tried iced coffee on a scorching day.
And guess what? They got my name right! Big ten stars for this coffee shop. At Starbucks, even though I use a famous name, I’ve been called Maryan, Maryland, Maria—basically everything except my actual name. This shop deserves a crown just for spelling it correctly.
The shop had a big menu overhead with so many options—cookies, small bites, the kind of things travelers eat when they’re too busy making history to cook. Still, I stay true to my cooking. But I liked this place, especially today when the heat turned every customer into a pilgrim searching for...
Read moreWas an insanely busy place today during our visit. We waited for 34 minutes total in the drive through! Yes, insanity we know, but others waited longer. Was it worth it?? I am going to have to go with a big YES! Everything was very delicious. I had a large Spiced Iced Chai with lite ice and in no way did this disappoint. I also had the American Sub on Gluten Free bread. The gluten free bread was very tasty which is rare and wonderfully soft, again rare. The meats, lettuce, tomatoes all tasted of a good clean quality and I very much appreciated this tasty gluten free find. My wife had a Blueberry French Toast ice coffee and she was ridiculously happy....and much like the good gluten bread.....this is a rare occurrence! Lol. She also had a Blueberry muffin which I broke my rule and tasted and it was very noisy and delicious. The drive though line had 10 plus cars in it at all times and the inside of the place was packed. These suck to wait in but usually a good sign that a place has some good foods worth waiting. Im sure this place would absolutely warrant a full 5 stars on a normal day with less chaos both...
Read moreI like the bagels here, they're nice and chewy with a good variety. The breakfast sandwiches are pretty good and they have a lot of options, but I find that they tend to be under or over toasted when the shop is busy. Pastries are decent, but unremarkable.
The coffee is pretty low quality. They did switch from using pre-ground beans to grinding fresh, which made it a little better. If you are a black coffee drinker you will be disappointed. That being said it's still one of the better options in the area, as Warwick doesn't have much to offer other than Honeydew and Dunkin's.
The staff is efficient, but unfriendly, no one is ever smiling. They are much more personable when the shop is slow, but as soon as there's a line it starts to feel really mechanical.
I come to Cafe Tempo because it's convenient, not because I particularly care for it. The space has a lot of potential, just needs better execution.
I will keep coming back for the...
