I’ve only been in person once, so take this review with a hefty helping of salt. The time I went in was very pleasant. The person working the desk (I think the owner?), was very personable and a pretty cool guy. I could tell he enjoyed his job and was following MTG pretty closely as one would expect. They had everything I’d asked for over the phone the day before set away and the prices were what I expected. He even offered to trade in one of my cards for a different printing that I preferred! We’re this my only experience it would be a 5/5 just because of how chill the atmosphere was, how helpful the owner was, and the prices.
Unfortunately I did have a bad experience with one employee who I won’t name or describe. I asked whether or not the store sold some specific tokens I was looking for, and rather than attempt to answer the question or take my name/# and perhaps call me back after they checked, the person simply said that they had too many tokens to check and left it at that. I thought it was strange that rather than check (not right away mind you, that would’ve been fine, I understand it’s a lot), the employee simply said they couldn’t know and couldn’t check because they were overstocked on token inventory. I hate to judge a person just by a single phone call but I’ve heard poor things about them before and they seemed upset about my question which I also thought was weird given the fact that working at a hobby store would be a dream come true for me.
Otherwise this place is pretty great and I wouldn’t let me bad experience dissuade you from at least coming and looking. I still plan on shopping here when I’m in the area despite my experience if that tells you...
Read moreHark, fellow adventurers! Let me regale thee with tales of my sojourn to Gem City Games in Centerville, Ohio, a realm where magic thrives and camaraderie flourishes like the ancient forests of Lothlórien.
Firstly, the stewards of Gem City Games, with their keen minds and steadfast hearts, provided guidance akin to the wisdom of Gandalf himself. Their counsel was as welcome as the light of Eärendil in the darkest of times.
In the realm of Magic: The Gathering, Gem City Games reigns supreme like the majestic kings of Gondor. Their events, a tapestry woven with threads of excitement and strategy, beckon warriors from far and wide to test their mettle on the battlefield.
But beyond mere competition lies the true essence of Gem City Games – a fellowship akin to the Company of the Ring. Within its walls, players find not only opponents but allies, not only rivals but friends. Like the bonds forged in the fires of Mount Doom, the community of Gem City Games is unbreakable and enduring.
In conclusion, let it be known throughout Middle-earth that Gem City Games is a bastion of excellence, where staff, events, and community converge in harmony like the notes of an elven hymn. May its halls ever echo with the laughter and triumphs of heroes, and may its legacy endure for...
Read moreWent to the shop to get some cards for mtg and had a list of cards I was wanting. Long story short, she acted as if they were busy and she didn't have time to help us out. (There was no one else there except for a couple of people playing at tables). Told us that her hard limit was 10 to search for but wanted us to email them to her, but had an attitude. We just happened to see one card that we wanted, bought it and left. If you want to be a card...
