I scheduled a warranty service for my 2015 BMW i3. I was happy that they offered a loaner car when I made the appointment over the phone. When I dropped of my car the exchanges with the service writer were devoid of any pleasantries. I found this odd as other BMW service departments seem to go out of their way to make you feel welcome. I was reminded to fill the tank on my loaner when I picked up my car.
The morning of the pick up I stopped at the gas station and filled up the car. I pulled into the service area and got out of the loaner, I was met by the same service writer - "are you here to pick up your car?" Yes I replied. "The cashier is through that door to the right." No "good morning" or "can I help you?" Strange.
I got in my car an noticed that the fuel tank (it is a REx) that was full when I dropped it off, was now 1/2 empty. I returned to the service office and asked the service writer if the tank had been emptied during the service call. "Yes, that is part of the procedure." Like I should have known this. I stated that it was odd that I had to return the loaner with a full tank but it was OK to return my vehicle with a 1/2 tank. He then slammed his hand against his desk drawer and pulled out a pad of paper. "I'll get someone to put fuel in your car but it will be at least 10 minutes." I repeated that it was odd to have a car returned with less gas in it and then told him I wouldn't bother him any more.
Now I should note that the i3 fuel tank is only 1.9 gallons. I filled the tank later in the day for $2.50. Why am I complaining about $2.50? It is exactly the point that the service department didn't care about this detail that pissed me off. The fact that the service writer was angry at me is just a bonus. He greeted me by name upon my arrival and offered me refreshments while he ran my ID for a test drive.I acquired about this vehicle the day before and when we were ready for a test drive, the vehicle was staged, washed and waxed and ready for my arrival. Test drove the vehicle and while driving, Tyler helped me navigate through features I was unfamiliar with took me on a perfect route to get a true feel for the vehicle and was very courteous and friendly along the way. I loved the vehicle and decided to purchase. The day prior I had called to secure financing before I drove an hour and 15 mins to the dealership from where I live and something were to not go in my favor. Matt (Financing) was very knowledgeable, and friendly. Matt faithfully secured my loan, gave me advice along the way and got the down payment and interest rate where we wanted it. Signing was painless and easy and before I knew it the keys were in my hand. Tyler greeted me upon my way out and asked if I had any further questions, gave me his card for future dialogue and even escorted me to the vehicle and showed me more features. I was happy to see the vehicle had a full tank of gas. Especially being in an unfamiliar town and not having to find somewhere to get gas on my way home for my long drive.    Read moreI purchased a 2015 Carbon Black BMW X6 from Voss BMW in March 2018; the salesperson was Denise Tomlinson. The excellent buying experience started before arriving at the dealership. The vehicle was found online, and because I traveled from Lexington, KY I had spoken with Denise several times by phone. She was more than professional and courteous on the phone, and even better in person. Because I had a meeting the morning of the purchase, I arrived in the afternoon on a Saturday and she and the staff of BMW stayed late to complete the purchase. Upon arrival, Denise introduced herself, shook hands, and made excellent eye contact. The vehicle was in pristine shape and sitting in its own showroom. A short test drive later and I knew the vehicle was perfect for me. Denise, and the staff at Voss BMW could not have made this a better experience. I spoke with 2 "BMW geniuses" who were awesome, on my way to speaking with the final person who negotiated the deal, including the tire and extended warranties. Although I cannot remember everyone's name, each person was outstanding, excellent, professional, courteous, and patient. I had many questions despite it being late on a Saturday afternoon.
