So the quality of the food isn't bad. It's the service you should beware of. The last two times I've went have been gravely disappointing. I'm not rich, so I plan my orders ahead of time., I call. Incident 1: I go in to pick up an order, they don't have it and they tell me "we're too busy, we're getting ready for a wine tasting." Ah. OK. So I leave and don't come back for awhile because obviously they don't care about my business.
Some time passes, I decide to give them a shot. I call in an order for Thanksgiving: boneless prime rib. Now again, I'm not rich, but it's Thanksgiving and that was requested. So I call 3 days in advance, give the date I need it (the Tuesday before Thanksgiving). I come in, they've lost the order (again) but can I wait for them to cut another. Sure. I get it, feel it, and ask "is this boneless?" The cashier unwraps it quickly, looks at it, and says "yes." OK, they work at a meat shop, sure, they know. So fast-forward a day. It's the night before Thanksgiving, I'm getting everything prepped. And guess what, it's not boneless. There are quite a few bones. I call and leave a message. Now I don't expect to hear back till Friday. I make the meat. I don't have enough. Don't hear a thing back. So I call back on Cyber Monday. They don't do returns w/o product and a receipt. Fine. My credit card company says they can dispute the charge because of quality issues. My card company begins the process and calls them. They say they can do a refund. I get a call the next morning from the owner who tells me she needs information. There's an angry "sorry, the employee who agreed to that has been reprimanded." There's "Oh who was here?" There isn't how can I make this up to you? She really wants me to confirm which employees screwed up. "Was it so&so? He looks like this. You can't mistake him." So basically, no she's not going to do the refund, that's not their policy, thank you good day.
So yeah. I didn't need a full refund. BUT she didn't ask or offer anything. The issue was service. And it...
Read moreWe went to Zinks in Franklin Ohio for years and loved every experience and all the meats we purchased were high quality. That being said my mom bought us a gift card to the "new" Zinks location in centerville for Christmas not knowing the 2 brothers split their business. Of course we expected the same quality as we experienced in Franklin. Too bad that was NOT the case. First we used the gift card 1 day before it expired and if we waited one more day the $50 my mom spent would have been totally wasted and invalid. #1 Wrong. Second the meat "counter" was exceptionally small, as in 5 or 6' long total. Almost nothing to choose from. #2 Wrong. When my wife asked for ribeyes, our previous favorite from Zinks in Franklin, they had nothing except an uncut piece of meat in the back he was reluctant to cut into...but did so only after getting a phone call after our order asking for more of the same. #3 Wrong Next, we spent over $70 on 4 ribeyes and 2 polish sausages...$16 a pound for the ribeyes...that's double Krogers so it should have been premium right? NOT EVEN CLOSE. Just got done eating our Zinks ribeyes...filled with gristle and extremely tough. #4 Wrong For comparison we got some steaks on sale at ALDIs no less a few weeks ago...and ALDIs steaks were 4 times better at 4 times less the cost...no exaggeration. ALDIs steaks were perfectly marbled with fat...NOT gristle...and were extremely tender...To be Honest...Zinks Ribeyes were about the worst we've eaten in the last 5 years. This review is to educate consumers...if they offered us free steaks we would turn them down. Instead of having a full belly after a 1 pound steak I just finished 4 extra large cookies for dessert...half my steak is in the trash...all gristle. Go to the REAL Zinks Meat Market in Franklin...stay away from Zinks in...
Read moreI first heard of this place when a lady who works here came into where I work. She was so passionate about this place I decided I had to try it, granted it took me a while to finally get here. When I googled this place to leave a review, honestly I was surprised the reviews are so mixed. The place was clean when I went and there was a gentleman cleaning while I was there. I was immediately greeted by a lovely young lady who was more than willing to give me a run through of things and tell me about her favorites. I ended up getting a chicken salad sandwich and some pasta salad. The sandwich came on a toasted pretzel bun with a pickle spear and some chips that I'm pretty sure they made in house. The chicken salad tasted pretty great and had a nice texture in my opinion. I thought the place was pretty cute and had a welcoming atmosphere. While I was waiting for my food, I walked around and browsed what they had and it seemed like they had a nice selection of wines and they have a fridge full of craft beers and ciders. The meat case looked fairly well stocked and the quality is meat appeared to be of a decent caliber, but the meats weren't that well lighted or labeled , so I can't be certain. I personally don't mind the lack of labels as talking to the staff was a pleasant and personal touch, but I can see how it wouldn't be ideal for some people. There were some reviews about their steaks that worry me a bit, so I may have to change my review after I try their steaks, but I definitely plan on at least trying one. For now, with my opinion uninfluenced by the other reviews, I like this spot and plan on coming back. I'll let you know if I feel...
