My brother recommended the submarine House, we met here for lupper. It was easily accessible off of State route 725, parking was very adequate. When we came in it was afternoon And there was a light amount of customers there. The sign said please seat yourself so we did on the bar side, everything appeared to be clean neat the table was a very nice oak with a glossy finish very nice, seats were comfortable. We wasn't sitting maybe a minute or two The waitress came up asked if we wanted drinks so we gave her our drink specification. Didn't take long for her to get our drinks back to us And she had already given us our menu by time she brought the drinks back we still hadn't decided...We both decided on I think it was the super duper cheesesteak... A side of onion rings for me can't remember what my brother ordered... The atmosphere was not busy at the time so we were able to enjoy sitting there at the table like I said there was a light amount of customers which actually was good since I hadn't seen my brother in years.... It didn't take long and our lupper (, lunch/dinner) was there And it was very delicious very hot which is exactly what I like, it seemed like they definitely went an extra mile with the sub same with my brother he really enjoyed his... We sat there a while eventually the waitress came back asked us if we wanted drinks and we did... The place continued to be light with customers but this was the mid-afternoon... And it was very pleasant inside the food again was excellent and very good taste... I went ahead and gave the submarine house five stars but on the service I gave a four-star I could have given a four star overall and the reason for that is I don't feel that the waitress went out of her way to be friendly I don't know if it was at the end of her shift or she was having a bad day but the friendliness was kind of blah... Now don't get me wrong she serviced us adequately she wasn't rude to us but again she didn't go out of her way to be friendly it was just kind of middle of the road but despite that I gave the restaurant in overall five because I feel that the atmosphere the cleanliness and the food was top notch I do feel that the prices were a little bit on the pricey side but not too bad.... Hopefully whatever was going on with the waitress she can strive to be a little more cheery and friendly but maybe she was new maybe she was having a bad day or it was the end of her shift I don't know... But we're going to end this on a positive note and hope that there's improvement and I look forward to returning again to the submarine House on 725 in Centerville again I...
Read moreHave visited twice. Apparently a Very Liked establishment. BuuuT.... the 1st time I went,.. my food order was Very simple, and of course Very WRONG. Upon me stating to the barmaid that my order was wrong,.. she immediately declared "No it's Not!" (guess She ordered for Me!?) But I shrugged it off and asked her if there were fries on my plate,.. she glanced at my plate and replied "yes". I then asked if I had ordered fries? Her reply now,.. "No, no sir. You asked for fried mushrooms instead." So the look I gave her, then my plate, then the look back to her must have hit that/her "light switch"!? Because the Immediate "OohhH" response was followed by.. "your right sir. let me get the manager." The manager arrived. And when I explained the incorrectly served meal... his rebuttal was that HE "needed to see a menu to determine IF in fact they even served fried mushrooms". He then persisted to say the menu was wrong in regards to "substitutions", and that They were right in regards to "what was served" and that I should have Never placed an "incorrect" order. WELLP..! That kinda done it! Ya know..? So i refused the meal. And stated that i would please just appreciate the bill for my $6 in-house IPA beer. (and yes... Yes.. i did perhaps throw out a "slurred comment" in regards to his incompetence on knowing his restaurant's OWN menu. And that his relationship towards customers could surely improve with him taking a few night classes) My bill arrived,.. food taken off of course... but my beer charge had Miraculously increased to $8!! I paid it (with,.. YES a $2 tip. Not the bartenders fault) and left. Appeared to meet a multitude of aspects I would/could appreciate in a Pub/Tavern. So.. I visited once more, giving them the benefit of my doubt. And perhaps they had an "off day" or whatever? Upon entering I wanted/Needed to know if the same manager was still at the helm. (kinda says,.. oh.. idk,.. A LOT!) So I ordered their in-house IPA again, which is Delicious! And surveyed.... uhh... YEP! Same individual was still at the Managerial position. Seen enough. Drank.. paid... left.... Perhaps someday, with a NEW, Knowledgeable and Professional Manager I can revisit this establishment and enjoy what all the local "hubub" is all about. Won't be an immediate priority thow, .....
Read moreUnfortunately the man who was either managing or is the owner of this location was very irritated by me as a customer. After waiting for what felt like much longer than needed for a sandwich and fries I looked up at the kitchen to see what was going on more so out of curiosity not out of irritation. I noticed that two cooks were talking to each other while watching the third cook. This was causing the orders to pile up, and any customers coming in getting pickup orders were crowding each other. One cook with a mask hanging off of his ear, not over his face, was standing directly next to the cook that was making my food. I also heard the bartender explain to her customer that they were going to "stick it to Mike Dewine" because of his curfew and they were going to try to work with their way around it.
At this point I realized I was in an establishment that didn't take the safety and health of their customer seriously and very politely asked to go ahead and refund instead. The bartender was happy to do it but the manager or owner came over and insisted he know why I was getting a refund. When I very politely and quietly explained to him what was going on, he became very defensive over the time it was taking and the safety precautions they were not taking. I explained that I'm more than happy to take a refund and leave amicably. It was clear he did not want me there as a customer. I am more than happy to not...
