Attention to detail is exceptional BEFORE you buy. Once you pay it is not even par.
For my daughterâs wedding they ordered the wrong dress for me and werenât even aware of the mistake until I pointed it out. Fortunately I asked Laura who the designer of my dress was when I ordered it because I wanted to look it up on the internet to see it in the color I had ordered since she did not have that color in the shop. When I found the dress online it did not come in the color I had ordered. I emailed them and never received a response so I called the next week. Laura apologized and said they had the wrong tag on the dress I had tried on. She placed a new order and told me the dress I ordered was âmuch more than I paid but they would honor that priceâ. I had to choose a different color though. I wish at that point I would have gone elsewhere but didnât. I figured everyone is human and mistakes are made.
When my daughter (the bride) bought her dress six months before the wedding she was told by Laura to book with Bahar & Reza for alterations then because they book up. She scheduled her alteration appointment (5 months out). She was told her dress would be in the first of May. The week before her alteration appointment (mid-May) she hadnât heard anything so she called to make sure it was in. Lo and behold it was not. She was told on a Friday that it had been shipped and would was in Chicago and would be at the store on Monday along with the bridesmaids dresses. It did not arrive but Laura happened to have another in one size smaller in the store. My daughter made an extra trip to the store and the dress was too big but could be altered. So now she had her dress. Again, nothing was said about the bridesmaids dresses. Three weeks later no one from Lillianâs had followed up (werenât they en route from Chicago?). Nope. Still not there. Finally one of the bridesmaids called Lillianâs and asked for a tracking number for the Fed Ex shipment. She was given the number and there was a note on the shipment that over $2000 was owed for the shipment and had to be paid when the delivery was made. Finally we had all the dresses and the bridesmaids only needed hemming which I could do. The brides dress required over $500 of alterations because of poor fitting. I canât imagine how much the one she ordered would have cost!
All in all there is enough work involved in a wedding that you shouldnât have to micromanage the dress shop. I wish I had listened to my gut and went elsewhere to get the dress I had picked out before I walked...

Choosing to have my alterations done there, however, was an absolute mistake and by far the most stressful part of wedding planning. From the first alternation to the last, it was a truly horrible experience. Young was an absolute nightmare to work withâŚincredibly rude and rushed me through the entire process. If you donât want to read through all the things that went wrong for me, the bottom line is save yourself a tremendous amount of stress and get your alterations done somewhere else. It was such a hassle to adjust my work schedule for all the fittings I had, and I lost so much sleep over all the issues I had at Lillianâs. To name just a few things that went wrongâŚ. #1 At my second fitting, I tried on the dress and none of the alterations were completed. Young didnât even apologize for this, just told me there had been âa tiny mistakeâ and I needed to come in again for this alteration. #2 Young called me the day before another one of my fittings to tell me the work hadnât been finished and I had to reschedule my appointment. #3 Young pushed me to have my final fitting 5 months before my wedding dayâŚ.repeatedly telling me that I would have to pay more for any adjustments after this date even though I voiced that I thought it was too soon to have my final alterations done. #4 Young simply did not do good work. She took the dress in too much, took it out too much, and left blue markings on my dress that I had to point out to her. She blamed all of these issues on me, saying I lost weight, then gained weight⌠which I absolutely didnât. My weight was actually very consistent since I got the dress, especially after she pushed me to have my final fitting several months before my wedding.

   Read moreMrs. Young is amazing!! I just picked up my finished dress today! Since my total engagement is less than 5 months, I needed to buy a dress that was already in stock. I bought my dress out of state and brought it to Lillianâs a little nervous and unsure. It needed to be altered/resized roughly 10 whole sizes smaller. Mrs. Youngâs team was confident from the start, and assured me that they âdid this all the time,â and âdonât worry.â
The first fitting was focused on the bodice, because my dress has lots of intricate lace that all had to be removed and sown back on. They even moved the WHOLE zipper over and added dainty buttons that extended higher- since it had to be taken in so much. By the end of my first appointment with her, I had complete trust in her abilities and vision. She was polite, and asked my opinion often. She also thoroughly explained everything she was wanting to do and was doing until I understood.
The second time we focused on the length of the dress, and tightened up the sleeves a little more. When we created the bustle, and also as we did the other alterations, she was cost conscious and gave me options to save money. Once again, she exuded a calm confidence and gentle expertise. She has a wonderful team working with her, as well.
When I came to pick up the dress, I had a couple nit-picky requests, and she humbly and gladly obliged to each one. She has so much to do, and is constantly at work to please her customers (which alone speaks of her quality workâŚ) yet she is only gracious and gentle.
