Over 100 years ago this church served as a refuge for people of all races. My Great-Great Grandfather led a Sunday school class at Calvary and was baptized in this church, the first Chinese immigrant to do so. But because of the church’s progressiveness, they’ve drifted from it’s original intended purpose to unite the community through Christ by uniting the community through sin. As opposed to bridging racial divides, it now causes greater divides by rebelliously putting women in a pastoral role, celebrating sexuality and political activism. Needless to say as a visitor I was disappointed as my expectation and anticipation on seeing the marvelous architecture and the name 'Calvary Baptist' was grand uplifting christian fellowship. This definitely was not the place. I regret not doing the slightest bit of research before walking into Calvary Baptist Washington DC as google was right there at my finger tips!!
