My favorite lunchtime market in DC! Located in the heart of DC next to Lafayette Square and the White House and right off of McPherson Square metro.
The farmers market has truly transformed into a mecca of diverse culinary 20+ vendors from Indian to Ethiopian, Italian, Chinese, Mediterranean, Mexican, vegan, seafood, Southern soul food, grass-fed burgers, etc. You name it, and you'll find here!
Some of the classics are still here (Lemonade Love, Puddin', Capital Kettle Corn, the Red Zebra Pizza) and some retired (Soupergirl, Chaia Tacos, Pleasant Pops, Urban+ade), there's plenty of space for new vendors!
My favorite vendors of 2019:
Cowbell Kitchen Vegan (5/5) - The tasty homemade veggie burger in a cheesy jalepeno bun with an array of relishes to choose from in a self-serve station hits the spot! While the scrumptious grilled cheese last year was delicious, I prefer the healthier veggie burger at lunch. Don't skip dessert - the muffin-like blueberry cupcake is delicious.
Panorama Bakery (5/5) - Tucked near the back, you'll find a treasure chest of scrumptious pastries and fresh bread! The fluffy almond croissants and cinnamon twists are divine.
Lemonade Love (5/5) - Refreshing fruity lemonade with interesting flavors served in a gigantic cup, The beets, strawberries, and watermelon lemonade are my top picks.
Hilana Cuisine Falafel (5/5): Flavorful crispy chickpea balls coated with Tahini and wrapped in a soft pita. So fresh and delicious!
Call Your Mother Jewish Deli (5/5) - While the Wood-fired bagels are tasty, don't miss out the chocolate swirl Babka muffin!
Puddin' (4/5): Indulgent bourbon brown sugar pudding. The small size is plenty for sharing!
Capitol Kettle Corn (4/5) - Fresh kettle corn made on the spot. Fun flavors that really pop - Spicy Chocolate, Honey Butter, Cheddar, etc. Plenty of unique flavors to sample from. The bags are perfect for sharing in the office!
Yoga in a Bowl (3/5) - The thick and chunky paneer wraps are messy and a doozy to eat outside.
The Red Zebra pizza (2/5): Wish Timber was here instead! While it seems difficult to mess up a pizza cooked in a wood-oven, the pizza is greasy and tends to get soggy. The zucchini pesto ricotta pizza is my favorite.
Definitely worth checking out if you work in the area. The market gets pretty packed with long meandering lines that start forming before noon. To beat the crowds, get here early...
Read moreI love farmers markets mostly for the vibe and sometimes I'll find something delicious. This market by the White House on Thursday summer afternoons gets jam packed. I've eaten a few things there and all have been good. Nothing to write home about but still good quality food. Although, I would say my favorite is always the kettle corn. But I've had tacos, bao buns, apple strudel, pizza, and Italian subs. There is alot to choose from but the prices are unsurprisingly a little too high. But it's a once a week treat and I'm supporting small businesses. So please check it out and enjoy the sun with...
Read moreI visited this Market in early May and have visited it in the past pre-pandemic. This farmers market is nearly all prepared food, such as hot food, baked goods, and take home prepared food. Very little produce. One stand had a few apples, one stand with sprouts, and one did have general procedure like lettuce, strawberries, garlic scapes, asparagus, garlic, etc. If mainly you're looking for produce, you probably want to check a different one of their markets I do want to go back and try to Jerusalem...
