Had a faded blue-haired homeless woman follow my group and I all the way to a restaurant after we passed by this park. She waited outside the restaurant, which was several blocks away from this park. When we went back outside, she closely followed us nearly to our next destination without saying a word. We had to cut close to the White House and loudly engage Secret Service over the situation because we felt so unsafe by her behavior just blatantly and shamelessly following us on 20-30 minute walks in multiple directions. Even then, she backed off but waited in the park across the street for us. Really unnerving and I would avoid this area at all costs because you never know what someone has on them or what they’re capable of doing. It doesn’t help that half my group were Asian so we are cautious of the recent anti-Asian sentiment in the US. I understand that many people on the streets (and off them too) have their problems and mental struggles, but this was not okay. Read moreIt's a nice park. On a nice day it's beautiful, but it is not well lit at night. Food trucks come at lunchtime on business days, and you can sit on a bench or on the grass. There have been small-scale, low-key events, with low-volume live music & activity (not just a protest gathering, but that does happen now and then). Yes, there are homeless there, but you see them around on the street, too, they don't run the park. Bus and Metro stops at two far ends of the park.
