National Shrine Gift Shop — Local services in Washington

Zero info about my order. Luckily I called to check on it and at that point I was told it was out of stock. I understand mistakes are made so I was willing to work with them. I stressed that I needed it before the 10th for a baptism and was told that a manager by the name of Arden is who is in charge of all the online orders and she would be able to assist me with potentially switching it to a similar item that would arrive by the 10th but I would need to call her tomorrow and she is aware of the situation. I called today in hopes that we could get it figured out but she seemed to not care enough to take my call so we could figure it out and instead had the person in the front counter repeatedly put me on hold. Again, I understand people get busy and mistakes happen. At this point I’m still patient and willing to work it out. I was told that Arden would email me different options to pick from and that she would get on it right away. I waited 2 hours and nothing was emailed and when I called back she had already left for the day. If you value your time and money please shop around and make your purchase elsewhere. As the largest Catholic Church in the Western hemisphere, you'd expect it to have a nice gift shop, and it does! Two really, although one is mostly a book store and one mostly a gift shop. In the gift shop you'll find a wide variety of art tapestries, statues large and small. You'll find a other assortment of crucifixes, pixes, holy water bottles. They even have the occasional kids toy and just DC related things as well. You can certainly buy a cathedral quality items at cathedral quality prices, but you can also just get smaller and cheaper items at reasonable prices. Some stuff is overpriced, sure. But the proceeds go towards upkeep of this amazing building and grounds and all the great things...

Do not buy from the online gift shop! I ordered 2 beautiful, glass holy water bottles as gifts on April 21, but never received a confirmation email so I sent several messages to make sure they received my order and never heard anything back. My credit card was charged immediately. May 15 (after the event I needed the gift for), I received one of the bottles with a note saying the other was on order and would ship separately. It is now July 20 and I have not received it, nor have any of my messages been acknowledged. I’m sure the actual store is lovely but I would not recommend...
