This place is to me the best restaurant in DC. I have come here over 100 times (probably more) over the past two years. While everything here is good I do have my favorites - butter chicken, aloo chaat, mutter paneer (peas and cottage cheese in a creamy sause), lamb karahi / curry, lamb saag and chole masala.
The folks running the restaurant are awesome. Having been here for over a 100 times, I see that they treat all their customers well!!!
You might think that I would get bored with eating the same thing? - but not at all - the main Chef here is awesome. I have had the same thing many times and its slightly different but just as delicious every time and it keeps me coming back. The other chefs all know what they are doing and have their own unique flavor.
Business ethics are top notch as well. Especially during COVID (as well as before) they often cleaned and sanitized everything from the tables, door handles, counters etc.
I have brought most of my colleagues (from different ethnic backgrounds) here and all of them had good reviews. Some of them were already regular customers here.
Give it a try! Don't worry if you have a preconceived notion that it might be too spicy for your palette - just order 'mild' spiciness which is plenty savory. If you have experience with spicy food - 'medium' will do you good. Those who order 'spicy' know who they are and if you are questioning whether you can handle spicy food you are not it ha ha!
For dessert I suggest the mango lassi / kulfi. They do take outs and...
Read moreWe recently visited this restaurant for their buffet, and it was a really good experience overall. • Buffet & Choices: The buffet has a nice selection of items with both traditional dishes and some creative touches. One of the highlights was the pasta cooked with Indian/Pakistani spices. It’s not something you usually find at buffets, but it turned out to be a tasty and unique fusion. • Curries: Among the many options, the eggplant & potato curry stood out with great flavor, and the dal curry was very comforting. Both felt close to home-style cooking, which I really appreciated. • Sweets & Drinks: The gulab jamun was soft, warm, and sweet – a perfect way to finish the meal. We also tried the mango lassi. It was refreshing, not too sweet, and perfectly balanced. Do note that the lassi is an extra charge, not included with the buffet. • Service & Atmosphere: The owner is very sweet and welcoming, which really adds to the dining experience. Friendly service always makes a big difference. • Flexibility: You can enjoy the buffet or choose the takeaway box option (priced by the pound), which is super convenient.
Overall, most of the food was very good, and the warm service plus variety makes me want to come back again....
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at City Kabob, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish! The moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm smiles and a cozy ambiance that set the tone for the evening.
The menu offers a delightful array of authentic Pakistani dishes, each more enticing than the last. I started with the samosas, which were perfectly crispy on the outside and bursting with flavor on the inside. For the main course, I opted for the chicken biryani and lamb karahi. Both dishes were cooked to perfection, with rich, aromatic spices that transported me straight to the heart of Pakistan.
The naan bread was freshly baked and the perfect accompaniment to the delicious curries. To top it all off, I indulged in a dessert of kheer, which was creamy and just the right amount of sweet.
The service was impeccable; the staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and made excellent recommendations. The attention to detail and the authenticity of the food truly set this restaurant apart.
I highly recommend City kanob to anyone looking for an authentic and unforgettable Pakistani dining experience. I can't wait to return and try more of their...
