Very weird bad experience. I paid online when I made my appointment for an hour deep tissue massage with hot stones and a half hour foot reflexology. I noted that I had a neck injury and mostly wanted to work on that. When I arrived I showed them the appointment and receipt for payment on my phone and not only did they have no record of me but they spent like 15 minutes trying to sort it out. They made me talk on the the phone to their manager who just kept yelling at me that I needed "proof" no matter how many times I told him I had the receipt and confirmation right in front of me and had showed it repeatedly. The woman on site kept physically grabbing my phone away from me by force and shoving her phone directly in my face to make me talk to the manager. Eventually they angrily told some guy to give me an hour massage. It was ok but he was very rough (like I don't mind pain at all but he was just tossing me around), and he did next to nothing on my neck even though I told him that was what I had asked for, and no hot stones, which I had paid for as included. After the hour I pointed out that I had also paid for a foot reflexology massage. This started another round of the manager screaming at me on the phone about 'proof.' eventually they had this same poor guy do a half hour on my feet but he obviously had no expertise in this, it was nothing like reflexology, and he used no lotion and it was all very uncomfortable. No one spoke English, which I'm generally very accepting of, I love my diverse international city, but if you are going to pick an obscure argument with your customers you at least need to be able to explain what you want out of them and understand their answers!
I would have canceled the half hour extra but explaining that I wanted my money back seemed beyond impossible.
When I finally finished, very late and now late to meet friends because of all the time spent being yelled at, and definitely not at all relaxed, the woman tried to physically grab my phone away from me again as I left and I had to kind of use physical force to get her off me and out the door.
The whole thing was beyond bizarre and my neck hurts as much as ever and my feet feel like they have rope burns. I have no idea how this place has such high reviews, I guess they must be fake bots??
I'm attaching screenshots proving I prepaid just so no one thinks I'm some cranky Karen making this all up!

EDITED REVIEW -- Manuel was still an amazing masseuse. I originally called because my partner and I were in Washington DC for business, before leaving we wanted to try an activity so I scrolled through Groupon and came up on this location. I called ahead to check if they were available and if I could still use the Groupon price which they did honor but only at the location, they didn't want me to pay on Groupon. It was a 50 minute massage.
Everything was great originally, I was even discussing the tip with my partner. About 40 minutes into the massage, the lady who didn't speak much English, brought up a translated message asking us to leave a review before the massage was finished, but also mentioned they would give us an extra 10 minutes for doing so. We obliged, and left a review as she wanted to get a picture of our reviews. While walking to the exit, before we could mention a tip, the 2 ladies started pressuring us on a tip.. basically demanding a tip which made us very uncomfortable that we weren't even given the opportunity to present a tip. So we didn't decide to tip on this fact, and left with a sour taste which 100% could have been avoided.
I understand they may get tourists and the like, which may not understand the tipping aspect of the U.S. that isn't prevalent in other countries, but how they went about it was horrible. They kept pointing at a sign that mentioned tip was appreciated, but it also says that the policy is to never ask for a tip. I originally left a 5 start review, but it felt like we weren't gonna be allowed to leave without tipping(which we were literally planning on tipping prior to this).
Manuel was awesome and respected the situation, I hope he finds all the success...
Read moreAs part of a weekend getaway for my husband I, I decided to purchase a Groupon deal for this place. I ended up having to reschedule our original appointment, when I called to reschedule I sensed an attitude from the owner (I believe sheâs the owner) she sighed when she finally realized I was calling to reschedule. Once I confirmed our new appointment she said âno more changes right? Youâre coming this time?â I laughed and yes we plan to be there. I almost cancelled because of her rude and unprofessional comment but I decided to keep the appointment.
When we arrived I wasnât exactly thrilled with place but it was clean; I had to keep in mind we were in the heart of DC.
While Iâve had numerous massages in my lifetime, it was my husbandâs very first. We opted for a couples massage, so they slid the curtain back used to divide the room. A gentleman by the name of Jack worked on me and a female worked on my husband.
What I thought was going to be the worst massage ever ended up being the BEST Iâve ever had. He started out massaging with a towel covering my body, meaning he massaged through the towel (no skin on skin). That was a first for me so i was a little taken aback. After maybe 10 minutes with the towel the real massage began. Jack was absolutely phenomenal!! He worked EVERY muscle in my body, even muscles I didnât realize I had đ. I like deep tissue massages and almost had to tell him to lighten up. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his massage as well.
I read the other comments and we had no issues with being harassed for tips. We left a tip on our credit card and went on our merry way. WE WILL...
