Incredible experience, hands down the best momos I've had the pleasure to eat! I had planned on checking out another spot nearby but it was closed for an event. Since this place was closed I & was hungry and beat from a long day I decided to stop in. I was alone so chose a seat at their small bar near the entrance. To start I ordered a delightful guava mojito w/ Nepali rum & a Masala tea. The owner was friendly & chatted while he mixed the drink, topping me off w/ the remains in the shaker after I drained the first 3rd. It looked & tasted amazing! I enjoyed sipping while taking in the pleasant atmosphere which relaxed & soothed me after a long, tiring day. First came the water buffalo (rare to find) momos w/ a curry dipping sauce. Steamed in a delicate wrapper, they were more than satisfying. Simply delicious. I'd like to try them cooked every way incl deep or pan fried with different options of sauces & stuffings. Next came the vegetarian Budda's delight. They call it a pastry but it's more akin to a matzo ball made from potato, cauliflower & peas in a sweet curry w/ almonds & cherries. I have a very experienced palate yet never had encountered this dish. licked the bowl clean. Fabulous. Overall, small space, Tastefully decorated, pleasant staff, quick service, relaxed atmosphere, wonderful flavor filled food, large food & drink menu w/ many exotic choices & vegetarian options. reasonably priced. I love Nepali food but this place was a notch above & hopefully I'll be back!

This was my first foray into Nepalese food. Nepalese is similar to Indian cuisine, which makes sense as the countries share a border. We tried the chicken momo dumplings and the Nepalese style curry. The chicken momo was good, though in my mind I would have wanted those more as an appetizer than a main dish. The curry consisted of a choice of protein and then onions in a tomato-based sauce cooked with roasted cumin, coriander, cilantro, and green onion. Since I selected chicken the dish was $19. I would have liked there to be more ingredients than meat and sauce in the curry, but that’s not a restaurant-specific opinion. The curry was made-to-order, and the chicken was well cooked. The space is in a fun area and decorated with interesting art and murals. If you’re seated in the alcove, you can sit on decorated pillows.

From the warm and inviting decor to the delectable aromas (hark, might that be sandalwood incense mingling with the enticing scents of curries and tandoors?) to the soothing mountain muzak, Himalayan Heritage is a full sensory dining experience. The waitstaff is friendly, the portions are ample, and the prices are reasonable. Most importantly, the food is simply amazing - the dhindo thali, off of the Nepalese specialties menu, lived up to its name with a truly breathtaking assortment of fresh, boldly-flavored, and well-balanced curries and chutnies (I ordered my food extra spicy, and while there was significant heat, the food lost none of the subtle layers of flavor lent by the aromatic herbs and spices). Himalayan Heritage is truly a gem of a restaurant.

Very expensive 🥘 food!, Most of the food are Frozen ( not fresh), if you see kitchen where foods cook very nasty 🤢 & dirty , they didn’t use gloves 🧤 at all , food 🥘 contamination risk high if you have any allergy cause they used all pan , spoon 🥄 & cutting board , knifes for all menu , they just want to make money, do not care about customers health and sanitation, if you see place & pot where they make home made beer 🍻 you are not going to drink forever .... no health inspection for that home made beer 🍺 which is called in their Menu “ Thomba “ using warm water 💦 and sips with straw . Without Health inspection and county permission they are making that home made beer 🍺 in their house Garage to make money , person who cooked food for customers never washed hands after touched nose 👃, hair, ear 👂🏾 & other body parts.... yaki ... nasty 🤢.... just wanted to make money only ..... not serious about contamination..... Only serving is looks beautiful but if you check how they prepare before come to the table......., disgusting...... that’s why they don’t eat food from Their Menu , they cook different food for them who owns that restaurant. One of the owner cooks food + only one another cook 👨‍🍳 from Bangladesh 🇧🇩. No one took training for cooking, just cooking their own style without caring about customer good health . In total it’s looks good only when food 🥘 comes on the table 😡😡 but you don’t know how they prepared in back .... just to inform to health inspection about this.... all customer are so innocent 😇... pricing is too high for that frozen food. So they are cheating most of the innocent 😇 customers. I highly recommended this please do not recommend this restaurant for your family and friends. Not Healthy at all .... 💯 % not clean . They used leftover food 🥘 for next day too . Just add little bit more flavor ( ingredients) to show fresh .... We are not going to back any more this “ Himalayan Heritage” Nepali Food Restaurant in Washington DC. Not at all ,,,,, never going back to...

Just now getting around to posting this review here. Our visit was mid-July 2024. Our group of 10 called ahead to make a reservation for a Friday night at prime dinner time. The staff was more than happy to accommodate our large group. They even called the morning of to confirm our reservation.

When We arrived, We were immediately Sat by our server. She brought us menus and took our drink orders. Having to come back multiple times for the children's drink orders. She gave us plenty of time to go over the menu and was patient as we asked questions. Our water cups were never empty. Multiple staff members came by to fill our cups as soon as they got low. Which was frequently, as we had been walking around DC all day.

We ordered a variety of food. The appetizers consisted of: Bhatmas Sadeko, Pork Sekuwa, Chatamari, and a bread basket. We agreed that all of them were deleicious. But the stand-out star was the Chatamari. For entrees, the kids got chow mein noodles as their tolerance of spice and new foods was pretty low. They received hefty portions that could have easily been shared by two. The Napalese Chicken Curry was the overall winner, folowed by butter chicken, Chicken Tikka, and Tikka Masala. This was the best food we've had so far this trip. We will be coming back anytime we are in DC.

At the end, our server brought us to go containers. And then split the bill 4 ways for us. (Which was probably a HUGE inconvenience, but they never made it seem that way.) While we were waiting to pay, the owner came by to refill our waters. Overall, the staff was incredibly kind...
