Love love love. They were a bit too pricey for me to consider when I was living in my apartment, but since buying my place last November I have become a very loyal customer. I started working with Daren to get an idea of what I wanted in my living room- just having the sounding board was so helpful. I have since outfitted my entire living room with them- probably went to the store at least ten times before making my order and never felt harassed or pushed into buying immediately. My mom bought her first house in over a decade this summer and I’ve encouraged her to buy with them too (which she has and has had an equally good experience). The biggest thing for me when I’m spending money on furniture is knowing that a) it will last and b) having confidence in my purchase. I most recently ordered a set of four dining chairs which arrived on Friday and the color just isn’t quite right in my space. I went into the store yesterday and discussed the issue with an associate (didn’t catch her name)- they are very up front about wanting to make things right if you’re not happy. She gave me a sample swatch to take home and test in my space and this morning I called customer care who was happy to facilitate an exchange for me. They are back ordered until February so they even offered me the option of keeping the current chairs (so long, of course, as they are kept in excellent condition). Even speaking to their central customer service center is a personalized experience- I don’t have the same concern with other businesses that my order or request is going to get lost in the shuffle.
You can get just about anything in any color/fabric/wood stain/finish that they have and the quality is outstanding- I really wish they were in the kitchen cabinet business because their wood quality, in my opinion, is unmatched by any other business I’ve explored at their scale. Everything is made in the US (Minnesota I believe). Of course with the pandemic things (especially custom items) can take a couple or a few months to come in, but this is far from specific to R&B and well worth the wait. I’ve had three or four delivery experiences with them and each time the employees were punctual, communicative, and, most importantly, careful with my home and furniture!
In summary I can’t recommend them enough. They have found a customer for life in me and I am happy to scream my unsolicited appreciation from the rooftops any time!
Edited to add- forgot to mention they are dog friendly (with treats!). If this isn’t the sign of a good business I don’t...
Read moreKind of funny how many people on here complain about the prices. No, this is not budget furniture. This is not cheap furniture. The vast majority of these pieces are made by woodworkers and talented craftsman, in America. Now I'm not on this kick where something made in America means it's better than if made somewhere else, but I'd be lying if I said it didn't make me happier to know that some of my money was going to American businesses and workers.
If you want "cool" furniture, maybe modern or whatever and you want to buy it online, great. It'll be cheaper. It'll be cool. It may be made half decently (it may be crap). It won't be made as well and it won't last as long. It won't be made in the US by craftsman.
That all said, the quality is among the best I've seen at a large format, multi-focus furniture retailer. Think about it, where else can you go and buy a couch, dining room table, office chair and bar cart (and everything in between) and have all/most of them built in the US, kick*ss quality, great design and delivered to you with the best white glove delivery I've ever experienced?
Let's talk about that for a minute. You know the story... My wife and I were remodeling part of our house, the contractor said it would take 12 weeks. Room & Board said 8-12 weeks for deliver (because they often make the furniture to order) so we figured, perfect... Silly, amateurish us.
The job of course took about 35 weeks and so we had to have the ware house and delivery team hold onto our furniture for an additional 20 weeks or more. There was never one gripe, only pleasantries. They checked in every 6 weeks or so. When we were finally ready to accept delivery we scheduled, it came on time, they wore footies and gloves, literally, and delivered, unboxed, explained how to use everything, gave some insider tips on a few operational and cleansing related things, cleaned everything up and we're out.
It was perfect. I've only ever had one other customer service experience as good as this (GE Monogram).
Extremely...
Read moreThis is my first review ever. I am very fond of the quality and styling of Room and Board merchandise. I have spent a fair amount of money purchasing Room and Board products of all types from the DC store and from the Oak Brook IL store. I have been very pleased with the customer service... until now!
One week ago my husband and I were finishing breakfast when we heard a very loud crashing sound that included the breakage of glass. It was terrifying! We went downstairs (where the floors are Pergo covered) to find the top to our aria table shattered in a million pieces!!! We didn't find anything heavy that might have been placed on the edge of the table. Could not imagine what might have caused the table to 1)fall off its base and 2)shatter. Glass pieces have taken days to clean up. Can only deduce that our cat may have jumped up and landed on the edge??? I was rattled by this and emailed the salesperson who sold us our last few pieces of furniture. I told him of this disturbing incident involving an R&B table top. I was stunned at the response as he basically BLEW ME OFF! and said he'd be happy to help if I want to "purchase" a replacement. Are you serious! Someone could have been badly hurt, especially a child. It is sheer negligence to sell this table top without many warnings about the potential safety hazards of it being untethered to its base and also that the glass material will shatter. SHAME ON YOU ROOM AND BOARD. That is not a...
