Barre3 on 14th Street is the best Barre studio. The first time I tried it I was nervous, especially being a male. When I first walked into the studio I was welcomed with a smile and good morning, which made me feel less nervous. Each instructor brings their own workout flavor to the studio. Some instructors will make you smile and giggle away the good pain (pain is weakness leaving the body). Other instructors will be intense and make you feel like you can conquer the world. At the end of the class and when you are feeling amazing the instructors last words will always make you feel empowered, beautiful inside and outside, and ready to start the day right, or end the day releasing any stress or challenges that you may have had. We all go through life with challenging days or weeks and I can easily say that the instructors at B3 know how to focus on you and put all and if any challenges in their life aside and out of the studio.
All the instructors are amazing but my favorite instructors are Vanja Amodeo, Sarah Peterson, Alicia (owner), Lauren Cook, Lexi Cafasso, Claire McCord, and Allison Del Castillo. They always pushed me past my limits. I rock a lot of studios but this is the one studio that will make you feel like a family member. The owner Alicia knows how to treat her staff and find talented instructors, which is the formula to running a successful studio and team. That is a gift to have and that inspires me to do the same in my company. The studio is not just about the workouts it is deeper than that. If you simply step back and observe for a few minutes how the owner and instructors operate in class, you will learn how to build a solid team, give outstanding customer service, push yourself past your limits, empower others, and give back to society. Applying any and all these steps to everything that you do in life will make you a very successful leader and person in any field that you are working in. I recommend this studio to anyone and to all those who may feel intimidated or want positive energy and change...
Read moreI’ve first started at barre3 14th street seven or eight years ago, and even though my life has changed in many ways — lived in different cities, moved neighborhoods in DC, changed my fitness priorities, and more — I always find myself drawn back to the beautiful 14th street studio and the wonderful people there.
The staff and instructors at the studio truly care, and it’s an extremely accepting space. The staff will do what they can to get you into classes and help your membership or class packages work for you. The instructors encourage you to make choices that work for your body, while challenging you to reach a little further. There’s no body shaming here. I know that any time I take Barre3, I’m going to leave the studio significantly more at peace and less anxious than when I arrived. It’s also just a beautiful studio I enjoy being in.
The method will feel different for you depending on what your regular fitness regimen is. The combination of Pilates, barre, yoga, and cardio I find really fun and sometimes very challenging. It boils down to your form, connecting with your breath, and pushing yourself, otherwise you may not get as much out of it, but if you focus on those things you’ll likely find it to be a very centering and calming routine and you’ll get deep into muscles you’re not used to knowing are there.
Thank you Barre3 14th for being such an amazing part of the DC...
Read moreI am a dancer and yoga instructor with a background in pilates, so it's with a solid knowledge base that I tell you Barre3 is a wonderful place to workout the entire body in a wonderful, very strategically designed, highly effective workout to to target all the muscle groups with low-impact cardio. The instructors are friendly, very caring and add to the atmosphere where I honestly feel at home. They also provide expert modifications. I've seen 20 somethings to 60 somethings in the class, and different body types -- everyone can adapt. The day care area only adds to the feeling that "we are a village" trying to be the best we can be with full mutual support. I love that! No snobby atmosphere here. Even though I'm already someone who practices movement, I find this particular form of calisthenics the perfect complement to what I already do, but if this is ALL you do, your body will build lean and strong muscle. I love that we end with breath work and with positive affirmations, all this after enthusiastic encouragement throughout to keep us revved up during the toughest points in the workout. The studio rooms are beautiful, too. It's really a delight to...
