Wonderful to finally have an accessible grocery store / food market available in the immediate DC Brookland-CUA shopping area and neighborhood. This spot is just about two blocks away from the Metro station, Catholic University of America campus, the Metropolitan Branch Trail (hiking / biking), and directly across the street from a direct bus stop. Located on the first floor of a multilevel multiuse business and private apartment living space, the store serves a broad mix of the Northeast DC community. Inside the store, you can find many of the TJ branded favorite items, a good selection of fresh produce, plenty of dry goods for make your own mixes and amounts, and a nice selection of basic alcoholic beverages (wines, beers, and ciders). The Trader Joe's pricing is reasonable for the 'less' processed food items and the convenience of this new location is great for shopping on the way home from work off the bus or subway, and also good stop for grocery runs on weekends walking around from the neighborhoods, the farmer's market, the university, churches, etc. Most folks aren't going to be able to do all of their grocery shopping here because of the costs, stick to getting brands and lowest prices at places like Giant, Safeway, Wegman's, and Harris Teeter. But if you live in the area and yearned for a convenient grocery market to grab your quick meals, snacks and produce in a few minutes - Trader Joe's Brookland DC is open and ready for...
Read moreToday while visiting the store with my colleagues, like we have done many times before, one of us needed to use the restroom. We were back in the store as we had already purchased items earlier. To not bring the bag or food into the restroom, we tried to place our bag on a counter, it was a flat surface, seemed open and available. Before my colleague even removed his hand, a coffee had been knocked on the ground. Of course, an accident, to which he immediately apologized. Chad, product team leader, decided, rather than accept the immediate apology, to berate my colleague, call him unprofessional, shewed him away as if he was a child. My other colleague and I intervened, and Chad continued to lack all professionalism, candor, and even a decent amount of respect. Instead he stomped around complaining about the coffee, which we would have bought him a new one, had this not been his behavior. As government employees who work in the neighborhood, we quickly built a relationship with the manager who offered us nothing but respect and space to collaborate in the future. Today absolutely negated that with this behavior from a team leader. I hope Chad doesn’t act this brash with his colleagues or other community members— unable to extend grace, control his emotions or words, and continued unprofessionalism by berating a...

Trader Joe’s is one of my favorite grocery stores in the U.S. They strike the perfect balance between high-quality products and great prices. Their selection is always interesting, and I enjoy exploring new items every time I visit.
One of the things I appreciate most about Trader Joe’s is their ability to hire genuinely kind and helpful staff, and to create a healthy work environment that clearly reflects in the shopping experience.
Their speed at checkout is always impressive. No matter how long the line is, it moves quickly and smoothly.
