Tuckernuck Store — Local services in Washington

Avoid this store entirely—they sell second-hand items at full price. I visited their Georgetown location after seeing a dress I liked on their website ignoring the poor Google ratings and reviews. Unfortunately, the dress wasn’t available in-store, so the sales assistant helped me place an online order. While there, I decided to try on a few other dresses, but after waiting 30 minutes in line with no end in sight, I gave up and left without trying anything.

The next day, the dress I ordered arrived. Upon opening the package, I noticed that the tags were detached already, and it was clear the dress had been worn multiple times, with disgusting stains on the chest, back, and neck. When I called to complain, the sales assistant admitted the item had been shipped from a previous return. I requested a replacement, only to be told that any replacement would also come from returned stock. Charging full price for used clothing is unacceptable. Do yourself a favor, and choose a different store—the poor ratings and...

I've enjoyed the products that I've ordered online; they've all been shipped in good order. I'm especially a fan of their costume jewelry; it's fun and funky. The store is another story - the associates couldn't be less interested in conversing with you or helping you in any sort of fashion unless you ask them directly (and even then, the service is lackluster). There have been numerous times where I haven't even been acknowledged when entering the store - and this store is the size of a large room. Having worked in retail sales, this is baffling. I also once tried to return a scarf my boyfriend had gifted me for store credit; he had bought it some months prior and I admittedly wasn't aware of the store's return/exchange policy. The associate helping me looked up the purchase and acted like she couldn't believe I was trying to exchange/return an item so far past its purchase date. This is a nice store and staff were welcoming and polite, offering to help order something I asked about. But, they just have a few racks of clothes, and it is very, very limited. If you’re a fan of the site, they have some of their earrings and a few other things you might like, but it wasn’t worth coming out to Georgetown. I was excited to come see the store when I was in DC for work, but I left without purchasing anything because there just wasn’t much. Hardly any Pomander Place staples or I would have picked up some tops. Shoes are limited. I wish they’d get a bigger space and have more of the stuff on their site. 4/5 just because there’s not much to it.
