Grand news Deli — Local services in Waterbury

10/2023 This is another diamond in the rough. I believe that this place was here when I was a small child. I just started to patronize this place with the suggestion of my coworkers. The staff is extra friendly and the store has a little bit of almost anything you may need. They serve coffee, breakfast, hot food, bus passes, lottery tickets, etc… I decided to get a ham, turkey, cheese, mayonnaise, lettuce, tomato 🍅, salt, pepper, oil, vinegar, and banana peppers on a roll. It was one of the best sandwiches I’ve had in a while. The price was decent, and they use Boars 🐗 head meat I was told. One or more of the owners is always there, and the place is run like a well oiled machine. The cashier is also very friendly, and once he gets your name he doesn’t forget. Customers are addressed by name and welcomed no matter who you are and treated with respect. I really like this place. Let me finish with the hard working gentleman behind the deli counter who keeps up with the high demand of customers orders and questions. He always has a smile 😊 and time to chat while working. "Grand News has Great News" The Grand News convenience store on the corner of Grand Street and Bank Street in downtown Waterbury opened a deli in their store. The store is family owned, clean, and well stocked. And now they also have a great deli at the back of the store. They obviously did their homework and invested in the best equipment and products to make delicious sandwiches, wraps, and salads. They're using very fresh produce, Napoli Import deli meats and cheeses, and fresh grinder rolls from Neri's Bakery in Port Chester, NY. I've been going in Grand News for a few years and the family that owns it are friendly honest people. They're putting a lot of care into every sandwich and salad that they make for each customer. Jay made an awesome Italian Combo grinder for me. It was one of the best I've ever had. And Diana made a crisp beautiful salad for me to take home to my wife. A diamond in the rough. In route from Boston to the Poconos, I stopped here bc of the reviews. A local, quaint and charming bodega vibe with a deli in the back. It has pretty much has everything you could ask for in a convience store. But the crown jewel there is the Service at the deli, from Jay. He was so personable and kind as he took my order, chatting with myself and others. Then Jay proceeded to make me thee most exquisitely crafted sandwich I've ever witnessed the building of.
