I sold some items at Plato's Closet, which is a store also owned by Clothes Mentor, and the manager at Plato's told me I had a ton (10 bags) of very nice items, that were simply "too nice" for them, but I should take them to "sister store", Clothes Mentor - which was an hour away, because " they would love to buy my stuff". So I took all TEN bags of like new, very current clothing and name brand bags, etc, and after taking less than twenty minutes to look through all of it, they bought ONE SWEATER!! I truly could NOT believe it. They told me that my items were either too out of style (though they were mostly bought within the past year), or not in good enough condition, which I found totally bogus because I never wear my clothes more than 2 to 3 times at most, because I am a clothes horse and I shop so often. Also, the manager at Plato's told me they were in excellent condition. I had brand new items with tags even, but they didn't want them either. In fact, they list on THEIR WEBSITE, that their most popular brands include Banana Republic, BCBG, Pink, Jones New York, Betsey Johnson, The Limited, Express, and Michael Kors. Guess what?! I had all those brands, among others, and they bought none of it. They offered me $3.80 for a Vera Wang sweater which retailed for over $100. I don't expect them to buy everything, or even most of them, nor do I think I will receive a fraction of what I paid, but this was insulting. It was not even worth the gas! When I mentioned to the sales associate that I was surprised and disappointed because the manager at their "sister store" told me I would have great luck there, she said, "Well, Plato's Closet doesn't really know our standards or style". Read moreHave always had a really good experience here until today. Was told 30 mins wait no one was in front of me. The lady who checked me in is usually quite good. She even commented that I looked familiar because I’ve been there quite a few times before. However, the past few times I’ve been here they go through my clothes so quickly and then she gets so preoccupied talking and helping other people. There was several people behind the counter; but the one lady kept stopping to help them or just talk and train. I was here for over an hour, and my clothes were sitting on the counter for almost 50 mins just waiting to be put in. Which is fine,but please tell me an accurate time. As I waited since they said 30mins and got to putting them in so quickly thought it would be quick. Again this is fine, but I would have just came back if they told me over an hour. When they asked me why I was standing around I said oh I’m just waiting for that stack to be put in and she was rather rude to me about how shes busy. She then proceeded to tell another employee who’s new about how people don’t understand that we do things other than just buy and I’m not their only customer. She did apologize at the end for the wait,but it was kind of a little too late after you made a comment right in front of me to another employee. On 26th sept. 2025 yesterday I purchased a Coach Ballarena item from your online website. According to the confirmation I received, the item was supposed to be held for 5 to 6 days. However, when I visited the store the very next day around 11am to pick up my order, I was shocked to learn that it had been sold just an hour before I arrived.
When I inquired, I was told by the staff at the register that "the person who purchased it didn’t show up, so we sold it — as simple as that." This is completely unacceptable, especially given that I was the person who had made the purchase and had not yet passed the hold period.
To make matters worse, the staff informed me that only the manager had access to the online orders, but they had been trying to reach her all morning without success. One staff member even said, "She might be sleeping." This level of negligence and lack of professionalism is extremely disappointing and shows a lack of respect for customers’ time and commitments.
I made a special trip to collect this item, and to be treated in this manner is completely unacceptable. I expect a prompt explanation and a resolution...
