It's nice to have a hibachi sushi location in this area, so I have been patiently waiting to try this out when it finally opened. The atmosphere is nice, dimly lit, with all new tables, boots, chairs, and the like. The bathrooms are clean, well maintained.
Servers are attentive, and prompt. My food came out quickly, and staff was friendly.
The first time, I came in for a sushi sashimi lunch combo. It comes with your standard miso soup, 6 sashimi, 4 sushi, and one California roll. Presentation is beautiful. The most important part here, however, is the flavor, which unfortunately I found lacking. The fish, while fresh, doesn't have much of the signature flavor of the fish it is supposed to represent. To me, this indicates the quality of the fish maybe not as good as the presentation might imply. The sushi rice feels a bit under seasoned. Not much of the sushi vinegar rice flavor that you would expect.
The second time I came I got the hibachi lunch (steak and seafood). The food came out fairly promptly, and again, presentation was great. Portions of meat were smaller than I expected (four cuts of steak, 5 shrimp), but the vegetables were abundant, and very colorful. The sauce was delicious, though maybe a little heavy on the corn starch - as it hit room temperature, it became very gummy, and upon leaving I noticed that cornstarch aftertaste.
Again, however, the quality of the meats were far below expectation. Each bite of my four pieces of steak had substantial fat and grissle on it. I'm fairly certain it was chuck steak, ribeye fat doesn't require so hard a chew. The shrimp as well had no real flavor, just had the texture of average shrimp. To boot, while the vegetables were hot and fresh and vibrant, the steak and shrimp were luke warm, while the steamed rice was bordering on cold.
I feel like as a starting business, they have some kinks to work out in terms of their vendors, and maybe with the kitchen on timing the components of their meal to have a consistent temperature. I'm not counting them out, but I think I'll wait a bit to return in the hopes they can improve. I do enjoy the staff friendliness and the atmosphere, but the main pull of a restaurant ...
Read moreMy wife and I have been wanting to try this so we went tonight for anniversary and I can't say how well we enjoyed it. The service was spectacular and the food was second to none. Our chef did a great job and put on the best hibachi show we've ever had. She ordered the filet and I had the filet and shrimp. We took one of our sons and his wife with us. One got steak and chicken and the other had the hibachi Asami combination which is steak, chicken, and shrimp. The 2 combinations were only $1 more than the filet and the 3 combo was $2 over the cost of the filet. Don't think that the combos were smaller portions because they were not. My steak was as large as my wife's and a full portion of shrimp. The others also got full portions of each. We looked at our plates and immediately decided that we would all need to go boxes which we did. Our food was spectacular in every way. The clear soup and the salad were awesome. Their ginger dressing is so good! Our meats were all cooked perfectly the way we asked and so tender. The veggies were great and we all got fried rice which was also very tasty. The restaurant itself was immaculately clean and decorated very well. Never once did we wait for service as the servers were on top of it. The restrooms were very clean which you usually don't find at hibachi restaurants. I will say this is THE BEST Hibachi restaurant in the area and we'll be back again and again. One of our son in laws has to eat gluten free so we asked about that. They told us they do accommodate that but make it in the kitchen and not on the table grill so there is no cross contamination. I can't say enough about how awesome of a dining experience this was tonight. If I could give them 10 Stars I would. Don't miss this place because I guarantee you...
Read moreFinally made it in to Asami this evening to celebrate our friend's birthday and all I can say is WOW WOW WOW!!! I was completely blown away with the amazing service, expert and so entertaining hibachi experience, the meal itself - everything completely exceeded my expectations, and they were very high going in, as I've heard nothing but good things about this wonderful restaurant.
I can't say enough good things about the amazingly attentive and friendly staff, they were all a dream. And the food was positively delicious, from the soup and salad starters to every single grain of fried rice. The steak was so tender! Plus, the portions were amazing! All 3 of our plates were filled with so much food, for the price the value of the meal was out of this world.
Also their birthday celebration for you is an absolute treat you do not want to miss!!
