Altar Home & Cafe — Local services in West Chicago Township

We walked into Altar Home because I saw one of the cute sheep in the window and wanted to check it out.

Little did I know that not only was this a home store but there was also a very cute cafe in the back. While the coffee isn't necessarily cheap, you do get what you pay for and I was quite happy with what I ordered. I love espresso tonics and the one I had was extremely smooth without any strong acidic or bitter notes.

The home side of the shop was well curated and surprisingly reasonably priced for the quality of the goods. A lot of the jewelry is very cute in around $50 for a ring, which isn't too bad considering that they're all contemporary and seem well made. The other items sold were also reasonable and you can find some unique pieces here that are a little bit more quirky but still classic.

Altar Home and Cafe transports one to a serene oasis. It’s easy to believe the location is near an ocean. Not only does the store itself smell and look incredible but the cafe in the back is such a special hidden gem. The baristas, AJ and Jess and the cafe manager, Jo have been such a welcoming crew when I grab my coffee in the mornings, always making time to ask me about my day and personal life. My experience with altar home, specifically their coffee shop has been very disappointing. This was my third time attempting to try the coffee at this establishment. Multiple times, despite having arrived nearly 45 minutes prior to closing they turned me away stating their coffee station is closed. Although there were 3 staff members there and I was there 45 minutes prior to their closing time of 5pm. The lady laughed and said oh well when I expressed this was my third time attempting to come here. I will not be returning and I don’t recommend anyone wasting their time to come here...
