My family had a wonderful experience with Chicago Museum Tours. Brian met us in front of the building and guided us through the Art Institute of Chicago, which was very helpful since itâs such a large museum. He was very knowledgeable and carried a mini portfolio to help describe some of the art in more detail. He provided thoughtful facts and information and customized the tour for us. He was patient and very informative.
This trip was a girlâs weekend including my mom and sisters. In light of that, Brian took us to the lower level to begin where there was a visiting exhibit of The Brown Sisters. This intimate series included forty photographs over four decades. Photographer Nicolas Nixon took these pictures each year of the same set of sisters in a similar pose. It was a fun way to begin the tour.
Besides that, he expertly guided us through the museum, making a point to ask for any requested artists. At the end, he offered tips for places we could walk through the city to see more art, including life-sized sculptures of some of the âmodelsâ...

I recently had the pleasure of joining a guided tour at the Art Institute of Chicago, and I must say, it was an extraordinary experience. Bernie, our knowledgeable guide from Chicago Museum Tours, truly made this visit memorable. He did an amazing blend of Art and History, covering various art movements and periods. His captivating stories about the artists, their lives, influences, and travels brought the artwork to life. As we explored the galleries, Bernie seamlessly wove together history, art, politics, and economic insights, creating a rich and immersive experience.
Bernieâs passion for the art was contagious, and he effortlessly connected the dots between different pieces, making the museum visit both educational and enjoyable.
If youâre visiting Chicago, I highly recommend joining a tour with Bernie. His Instagram (@chimuseumtours) is still under construction, but he promised me that will add some great pictures soon. đ
Thank you, Bernie, for an inspiring journey through...

First, a note: "Skip the line" is a bit misnomer: If there is a special exhibit showing, and it needs an extra ticket/charge, you probably will not see that during the tour. But, you will enter the museum half an hour before the normal opening time.
Our tour guide was very knowledgeable: He was doing the tour long enough that he knew what was where, and what works had been moved around. He brought a binder of photos with him, to give additional information about the things we were seeing.
The tour was not just a lecture, it was also a conversation. Our guide spoke multiple languages, so the visitors from France were not left out!
There is so much to see, so the tour skips over a lot. My suggestion is, once the tour is over, go eat lunch (and take a break) in the café, and spend the rest of the day (for free) in the museum. The tour gets you into the museum, so take...
