After doing my laundry at Su Nueva Lavanderia, I figured that I would stop in to see what Family Thrift Store had to offer. I looked forward to visiting because this thrift store was a bookmark from a while back, but what hindered me from visiting was its distance from my apartment.
Upon entering Su Nueva Lavanderia, I headed straight towards the women's section to get a feel of what the store had to offer. The women's section sat right near the door, so it was my pre-introduction. I anticipated looking at more items after seeing some of the prices of their women's jeans and jackets, but once I got to the men's section to look at the dress shirts, jackets, athletic wear and jeans I was highly disappointed. Many of the prices on the clothing items seemed very lopsided considering them being secondhand items which is totally not cool.
What I do not understand is how can you price a jacket less than a pair of jeans? It becomes an argument if the item is new, but secondhand items, really? I was very befuddled to see some of the prices listed, which makes me hesitant on returning unless I just so happen to be in the area. I will never return with the sole purpose of visiting because it is a hit-or-miss.
When I say hit-or-miss, I'm meaning that certain item prices are not fitting to the items condition or brand. Plus! The day you choose to visit you could possibly miss out or luck up on the percentage you get off on an item because of its color tag. With that being said, choose the days you visit Family Thrift Store wisely; preferably on their sale dates. According to one of the employees, the sale date on all items falls on the last Saturday of every...
Read moreUpdated review (original review below): Sadly dropping my rating to 1 star after a negative and uncalled for experience... I loved this store and would visit as often as I could for the nearly 2 years I've lived in the area. The last time I went, I was in an aisle browsing when workers nearby started talking about me (I guess they weren't aware I could understand the language...) and insinuated that I had stolen something from the store in the past. I was shocked but more than anything I was confused?! I never have and never would take anything from here...I don't know if it was a misunderstanding and they simply mistook me for someone else, but regardless the experience left me feeling extremely uncomfortable.
Shoes are pretty pricey (typically $15+, some as much as $30), but most clothes reasonably priced. Everyday there are two tag colors that are 50% for clothing only. Big selection of books. Organized...
Read moreFirst time that I stopped at Family Thrift, it was very disappointing. this was supposed to be the day that they had the brand new merchandise come in and there was really nothing there. I was wanting to look for a long dress for a wedding coming up and there really was only one or two. the last time I was there the whole rack was full of dresses. there were hardly any basketball type pants or shorts that my son likes and there's a lot of filthy stuff. I know they can't control everything but the sizes are no where. you have to look through the whole Rack in order to even try and find your size. I was very...
