My one star review is not related to the store in general. It is related to experience that I had with an extremely rude and unprofessional employee Sydney on 02/10 at about 8:30pm . She was a shorter mature woman with an attitude. She was stocking the shelves in hardware when I came up to her. I asked if Menards carried certain tables. She described the product that Menards carried. I further elaborated about specific table I was looking for. Then she repeated the same information with the attitude and finished the sentence with the phrase “I do not how else I can explain it”. I said ‘thanks’ and started to walk away, but then I turned around to ask her name. As I turned around, I saw her making faces about me to the other employee with whom she was stocking the product. When I asked her name, she responded “it is Sydney I am sure that would love to hear from you”. It was said with a lot of sarcasm. I never had issues in this store before, in fact a different person from hardware helped me that day. He took me to the specific table I was asking about. He was very friendly. I think Sydney needs additional training to help with her limitation in explaining things to customers as well as her skills in customer service and professionalism. The store is good. Read moreI wanted to share a great experience I had at Menards. I selected a 50 gallon Richmond water heater and paid to have it delivered. The water heater was delivered the next day and I signed the release for the water heater saying there was no damage. I left the water heater in the box so it would be easier to carry down the stairs and received an unpleasant surprise when we opened it. The water heater had a huge 6 inch wide dent that was about an inch deep. I felt like an idiot because I should have opened the box and checked it before the delivery driver left. I called Menards and I sent them a picture of the damage. I really thought because I signed the delivery that I would be stuck with the damaged water heater. However, Heather, Kyle, and Jesse all agreed that the damage shown in the picture was very serious and may have actually damaged the internal tank. The next day a new water heater was shipped over to our house and the dented one was removed. Jesse at Menards actually opened this unit, before prepping it for delivery, to make sure it was in good shape and we also found it be perfect after removing the packaging. Read moreOn one trip to get mulch and some hardware. After searching for the location of the mulch I found a service team member (they were in short supply the day I was there) and was told the stock tag was not accessible and then printed a form for me to take to the register. As this is a new store for me, I had to figure out how to get to where it was stored (not well marked) and where to best park (the traffic aisle barriers made it tough to figure out the best aisle to park in for the closest access). I discovered that one could not park next to the product. I had to carry bags one-by-one to my car behind barriers. I also bought lumber and brackets for shelving. At check out the clerk did not enter all the items being purchased and I had to talk him through the fact that he had "missed" some items and get him to add them to my purchase. He did not know how to accomplish this, so he had to get assistance from another service team member - but this took a while because that service team member was too busy chatting with other customers in the same line behind me.
