Normally, my husband and I love Home Depot. We choose to shop here over Lowes. Customer service is usually outstanding. Not so much at this location. We moved here from TX a couple of months ago. The customer service in this store has come up short every time. We've kept going back because everyone has a bad day, and we realize businesses are short-handed in these times. But our visit on March 15th around 7pm took the cake. It was NOT busy; there were only a few customers. I asked for help 2x. I stood in the power tool section, waiting for the "only employee" that I was told could help me, but she was making keys for other people. A few feet away there were 4 cashiers standing around, laughing and having a good time with each other but not helping anyone. I waited almost 15 minutes just standing there. When the employee finally got to me, she was very short and rude, like it was a bother to help me. She helped me quickly, handed me what I asked for, didn't answer any questions, and was gone. I needed more help and found her a few mins later, just standing chatting with the other 3 or 4 employees. When I asked her for help again, she again very rudely helped me as quickly as she could and seemed bothered that I was even asking questions. I was spending approx. $300. You'd think 5 mins wouldn't be such a bother? They obviously were not short-handed, after seeing everyone standing around for about 30 mins. Maybe they need some training in other areas of the store? At the very least, they need some customer service training. See pic of 3 of them just standing around, chatting and laughing. It was like this for 30 mins, however most the time it was right in the aisle in front of the cash registers. I have never had such aweful service at a Home Depot. We spend thousands there annually. I definitely would not recommend this location.

I ordered three privacy fence panels from homedepot.com. Shipping was a mess. FedEx delayed my delivery due to some problem with the labels and changed my delivery date to a date I would not be home. Neither FedEx nor Home Depot could correct or delay the shipment to a date of my choosing. Basically - I felt enslaved to their whims. Fortunately, I my own, I found "manage my delivery" on the FedEx website and scheduled a "vacation hold". Whew. Fence panels arrived as I hoped. Instructions for assembling and installing the fence panels are very basic. Pre-drilled holes in the wood slats didn't always line up with the vertical posts. For some, I had to redrill the holes or, using my power miter saw, trim the ends. Metal pieces didn't slide in easily and I found WD-40 to be a good fix (nothing is mentioned in the literature). All in all, I would not order online from home. I would go to the store and ask the clerks to order it to the store and have the store deliver it. WARNING: They'll resist doing that. You have to be thicked skin and insist on it. WARNING: The fence boasted 5.75' tall is anything but the truth. Actual fence height is barely over 60" (5' 1/2") tall. The panels come with stakes if you're going to mount them into dirt. The over-all height maybe 5.75' - but the stakes should not be factored into the height. I wanted a 6' fence - I was disappointed. Longer story shorten - be cautious on ordering from homedepot.com. There are outside vendors selling on the site (just like Amazon, Walmart, etc.). READ all the reviews on products you are ordering. Make sure there is a return guarantee. Better yet - a return that can be completed at your local Home Depot store.

I started off at the Salt Lake City Home Depot where I had reserved a sod cutter. When I got to that store out of all five sod cutters that they had none of them worked and so I had to go to West Valley City. I was happy to hear that they have several sod cutters and they gave me one of the newer ones. I took it to my house in Davis County, which was a bit of a drive away and then only after about 80 feet of cutting sod, one of the bolts fell off of the unit and it stopped working. I put the bolt back on and still it was not able to engage the cutter to make it work. So I had to load up the machine and drive all the way back to West Valley City where the tool rental people were not very understanding and said that this was a new tool and they still wanted to charge me even though I was not even close to getting the job done And I refused to pay the rental because I literally spent four hours just trying to get my job done. I had to talk to the store manager before they would refund my complete deposit. The people were very nice there but I am super frustrated that I wasted my day trying to rent tools from Home Depot with basically no success. Not very happy at all.

The WVC, Utah HD is my least favorite to shop at. On my most recent visit, I was looking for some square nuts. I was planning on getting them at the Salt Lake City store on 21st South during my lunch hour, but ended up getting them at WVC in my way home from work. I knew the location (aisle and bay#) for the SLC store, but not for the WVC store. Unfortunately the mobile HD site doesn't list the item location, but it does indicate if the items are in stock. So, I'm in the store and I can't find them. I ask a worker if she knows where they are (she's restocking some of the other fasteners). She says she's never seen them and doesn't think they carry them. I said "but it says online you have seven in stock" to which she replied somewhat annoyed "just because the computer says so, doesn't mean they're here.". Then she tells me I should go to a nut and bolt store (not a HD) across town. Now I'm getting annoyed. Don't send me on another errand just because you're not knowledgeable enough about what you do and don't carry. Turns out they did carry them (computer was right).

Different occasion, I picked up one 2x4 for a project. For some reason the SKU wasn't in their system and the cashier can't figure out how to look up the price. She sends some dude to look for it and he disappears for 15 minutes...no exaggerating. The cashier at the next register noticed I'm still waiting and calls a manager over because she can see I'm getting pissed. Finally they figure it out and I'm able to pay the $2.78 for the 2x4.

Another time, I went in for a food-grade bucket and a gamma lid. I went to the bay that they were in the last time I'd bought them and they weren't there. I ask a worker where they'd been moved to and he says "I dunno" and just stands there staring at me. Finally I ask "is there anyone that does know?"

Bottom line, too many of the workers at this location seem lazy and uniformed. I've never had these kinds of issues at the SLC and West Jordan stores, but they're not on my way...

I am absolutely fed up in dealing with the incompetence of this store. I have bought and returned 2 dishwashers because they cannot figure out how to communicate with the company that does their deliveries. I bought an LG dishwasher online without knowing that an L shaped kitchen layout makes it very difficult to install LG dishwashers, this was told to us by the delivery men so my wife and I thought fair enough that is our bad and we went into the store to speak with an associate to make sure we don't make the same mistake again. We spoke to an associate who ensured that the Samsung we just bought will have no problem being installed. Well delivery day arrives and I take work off to wait around for them and he says the exact same thing about the Samsung, even the delivery guy was fed up with this store and their lack of communication and he and his manager recommended we buy a Bosch dishwasher that will have no problems and that we should call the store to work out some kind of compensation for this mess. I got on the phone with a manager first initial C, who was sympathetic and apologized for what has happened and promised that I will be left satisfied with the Bosch and a deal can be made in regards to pricing. But only after the installation is complete (Sneaky). Now I've been waiting weeks for a dishwasher to arrive only for the store to send someone who CANNOT INSTALL THE BOSCH!! Why would you not send a plumber KNOWING IT IS AN L SHAPED KITCHEN!! I spoke to a different manage who did not give her name who basically said nobody would promise you anything like that here at this store and that the best she could do is refund the installation fee... because you know... THEY DIDNT INSTALL IT!! Still waiting for her to call back and fix this mess. Home Depot you need to do better and the only way I can do anything is to hit you in the Review. If I could give less than 1 star I...
