Extremely Disappointed with Home Depot's Customer Service
I recently had an incredibly frustrating experience at my local Home Depot, and I feel compelled to share my disappointment. The level of customer service I encountered was shockingly poor, leaving me with a sense of frustration and abandonment.
First and foremost, I entered the store with a clear goal in mind: to seek assistance from a knowledgeable employee. However, it quickly became evident that finding a helpful staff member was going to be an arduous task. After browsing through the store for a while, I finally managed to locate an employee who seemed available.
I approached this employee with my question, hoping for some guidance or direction, but unfortunately, that was the last time I received any semblance of assistance. The employee seemed disinterested and inattentive, as if my presence was merely an inconvenience. To make matters worse, I was left waiting for a staggering 30 minutes while the employee allegedly sought assistance from a colleague or manager.
Sadly, my hopes for a resolution dwindled as time passed. Despite my patience, the employee never returned, leaving me feeling utterly neglected and disregarded. It was as if my presence and concerns were insignificant in the grand scheme of things.
As if the lack of assistance wasn't enough, my disappointment reached its peak when I realized that the store was about to close. I had been waiting for help for so long that I completely lost track of time. It was disheartening to think that the employees were so oblivious to my presence and needs that they allowed the store to close without even acknowledging my presence or offering an apology for the inconvenience caused.
Home Depot prides itself on being a go-to destination for home improvement needs, but my experience was a clear reflection of a company that fails to prioritize its customers. The lack of attention, disregard for my time, and abandonment I experienced are simply unacceptable.
I sincerely hope that Home Depot takes this feedback seriously and makes the necessary improvements to ensure that other customers do not suffer the same frustrating experience I had. As for myself, I am deeply disappointed and will think twice before ever setting foot in a Home Depot store again.
Home Depot, you have let me down, and I will not be recommending your store to anyone based on this...
Read moreOccasionally, I'll meet a courteous employee, but after a few years of poor interactions, I will give them a 2 star. I've had several poor interactions. For example, together with my friend is an experienced architect with over 30 years of employment in many areas within the field has been talked down to by several staff who, for example, implied he doesnt know the parts required to install a toilet seat or know what is needed for basic home plumbing. They also provided inaccurate information on the difference between two dishwashers despite the computer listing details right in front of them.
What prompted me to leave a review is when looking for a specific snow blower with SKU, 3 staff members insisted on an open box model that was missing plastic on the exterior box (present on all other models and brands). They stated all items were present and it has never been opened and the box is damaged from shipment. It was missing the instruction manual and they decided pretend it was acceptable to simply show me how to put the parts all together. This is completely unacceptable for several obvious reasons. They continued trying to trick me (I'm guessing to get rid of the open box model). I was still polite and declined to purchase and another staff came over and rudely requested to know what was occuring, with arms akimbo.
As well, the inventory online can be very inaccurate, and can be dated back to 6 months prior.
On a different instance, one employee states he knew what a part I was looking for was and they didn't have it in stock and he didn't know where it was. I already found the part and was asking if they had a different design similar to it. He obviously did not know and kept faking it. This is embaressing. Then he handed me off to another employee and whispered I didn't know what I was looking for. That staff didn't know of the part either, but was polite enough to redirect me.
Another instance, my wife went to find a replacement drainage pipe (while holding the old one in her hand) for a bathroom sink. A staff member was rude to her and stated they didn't have it, while standing in the plumbing aisle. She simply looked down and found it immediately. The employee was flustered, then rude.
Only a few employees have been helpful. With several home renovations done recently, I must post how appalled I was with their poor customer...
Read moreI rarely fill out these surveys, but my experience was so awful, I am taking the time. I just had to return $800+ worth of blinds because they were cut with utter negligence. The contractor replacing our windows had given me specific measurements required for the blinds to fit our windows. I explicitly and unambiguously conveyed these measurements to the Home Depot representatives operating the cutting machine. Upon opening and trying to install them, my contractor showed me the haphazard way the cutting was accomplished. Some were too short, some were too long, some of the slats or valences within the same blind were cut to different lengths. None were cut correctly. This cost me multiple round trips of driving to and from the West Windsor Home Depot, as well as time for which I must reimburse my contractor. I estimate a full day of my time. Furthermore, upon returning them, though I had wasted enough time and money, I courteously asked to speak with a manager to share my experience, and the staff at the return desk seemed utterly indifferent to my experience. The quintessence of ‘I just work here’ culture. Beyond the $800 you had to refund me for a product which you will have to throw away, I will not be giving Home Depot my business going forward, and will share this experience relationally. I estimate that I have spent $115,000+ over the past 5 years with Home Depot, so if there is anyone at the helm of Home Depot, this feedback regarding my experience...
