I'd been skiing in a pair of 130 flex racing boots that I'd bought off Ebay on a whim because they were a great deal, and of course they didn't fit properly. After yardsaling on a relatively easy run last year and partially tearing my MCL, and months of physical therapy later, I was determined to find a proper bootfitter. I educated myself on how a ski boot should actually fit and what a good bootfitter should ask and started looking around and Boston Ski and Tennis came up as a nearby location. Their website made it clear that they had America's Best Bootfitters on staff so I made an appointment for the next day.
I arrived 30 mins early to poke around but Tony said he could take care of me right away. He checked my ankle flexibility, foot volume, asked all the right questions and explained differences in boot lasts and liners, really took his time to find a boot that would work for my skill level and what I wanted to do going forward. When Tony went back to get the correct size in the boot he had determined would work for me, they were unfortunately sold out of that exact size in the correct flex, but Tony did not stop there. He wanted me to see what a proper fitting boot felt like so he found the same model in a softer flex and had me try it on.
Remember, he already knew at this point they didn't have my boot in stock and wouldn't be making a sale that day, but he went the extra 5 miles and made sure I knew exactly what boot to get when I bought it elsewhere. You rarely see service like this anymore. Businesses and people like this deserve our support, so please, go see Tony for anything skiing-related. They have won my business...
Read moreStay away from this place for ski service. I went to this shop expecting a quick adjustment of ski bindings for new ski boots and instead they tried to convince me to buy new skis. They don't know the difference between grip-walk and non grip-walk boots. They claimed my bindings were "built-in to my skis" and therefore could not be replaced to accommodate my new "grip-walk" boots that are not even grip walk. After being told my new boots were not compatible with my old bindings and my old bindings cannot be replaced, they then proceeded to try to get me to buy new skis right then and there. They claimed my current skis were beginner skis... they are not they are intermediate-advanced. The following day as I headed home for Christmas I stopped at a store in upstate NY that I purchased my skis from maybe 10 years ago and they quickly helped me adjust my bindings for my non-grip walk boots. I went from worrying I would have to spend hundreds of more dollars to ski this season to only paying $30 for a quick binding adjustment. The people at Boston Ski and Tennis either straight up lied to me or they are severely incompetent on the equipment they claim to service and sell. Maybe they are more knowledgeable on tennis than...
Read moreMy wife had a boot fitting appointment at 2. After we arrived promptly for our appointment we were made to wait for 10 minutes for no apparent reason before my wife started getting fitted for her boots. I looked after our one-year old while she was getting fitted and after 15 minutes of salesmanship, when the store's 2:30 appointment arrived, they realize they made a mistake as they are fitting her for a purchase and not a rental. This seemed odd because we mentioned that we would like to purchase the boots and skis she was being fitted for but apparently they didn't allot enough time for us to finish our appointment. So without any useful communication coming our way, the boot fitter (store manager?) and his friend realize the mistake they made and spring into action getting my wife out of the chair, out of the boots, tell us to reschedule our appointment for the following week, and get their 2:30 appointment into the chair to start his appointment on-time. Maybe Peter is a big spender and was very well known there but it seemed like Peter got the deluxe treatment and we were told to take a hike. Maybe Peter will end up purchasing 20 years worth of ski and tennis equipment for his whole family but we...
