This place probably does not deserve 1 Star but the 4.3 is grossly overstated. Made the mistake of trusting this rating and chose this location recently. My g/f and I are easy people to please. Prompt beverage service and some kind of food in front of us and you are 5 Stars. Had an experience over the summer on the Cape where a waitress was absolutely terrible (first day) but she was prompt with beverage beverages and brought snacks until our forgotten food order was ready.
Here, we called ahead for a reservation, was advised to make it for 7 and we would be seated early if there by 6:30. Sure enough, we were lucky to be seated by 7. We were off to a rough start. Another 20 minutes to get drinks which were unconsumable. Had to actually bring them back to the bar to get descent service. For the remainder of the night, I found myself going to the bar to fill out drink orders. There were 4 of us and not a single dinner order was corrrect. It was hibachi and somewhat easily corrected but certainly a disappointment for the moderate delay.
Our chef was marginal, and prepared the food well, although the portions seamed strange. I had far too much rice and minimal vegetables and the reverse for my g/f. It was obvious the place was under staffed and not a single member of management in sight.
It is probably a roll of the dice on this place given the atmosphere. Some tables looked like they were serviced well and enjoying their evening. We couldnt help but laugh eventually. If you have a sense of humor, this could be your kind of spot but keep in mind you've been warned.
Ohh, and they automatically give themselves a 18%+ tip, gratituiity added after they run your card. It does not specifically state this anywhere but certainly they believe it is deserved. There are alot of places for hibachi, try...
Read moreFood was good but not what I was expecting. I ordered alot of food most of it was to my liking. The gyoza we're your normal Japanese American gyoza nothing special but good I have to say their duck buns make them unique. I have never had a duck bun I have had a pork bun which in my opinion is better than a duck bun but I am not a big fan of duck. One thing I was surprised they had that I have had in Japan and a few other places here was the Takoyaki. These are little balls of fried octopus, potatoes, and onion I think. They are really good and in Japan I loved going to get some as a snack. The ones here are not the same only one piece of octopus and alot chewier then I had in Japan. That being said it was still pretty good for here. My disappointment lies in the yakitori dish. I have been to Japan and have had Japanese yakitori and this was really lacking. First off anyone who knows about that Thai restaurant in Northborough on route 20 not sure if it is still there. If you have had the chicken satay there then you have already had Sachi's Yakitori. When it came and I realized what it was a was saddened I have yet to find a place that sells good yakitori. But if you are looking for a good Japanese American restaurant this is a good place to go. But just know that the yakitori will let you down if you have had actual yakitori...
Read moreDiscovered Sachi courtesy of a Groupon. They offer general seating with high booths for privacy, Sushi and a secluded Hibachi area towards the back of the restaurant. I ordered the Balsamic Filet Mignon ($26) and it was absolutely delicious. Every bite of the well-seasoned flavorful steak was tender and the presentation was out of this world. I've never seen anything like it. Our waitress was wonderfully attentive throughout the meal and very helpful when I asked questions about the yakiniku sauce: she didn't know what was in the sauce, but made the effort to ask the chef. Overall fantastic experience and I can't wait to visit again to try their Hibachi. One last thing - I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the restaurant's atmosphere. It has a very open floor plan with a casual seating area near the bar should you want to grab a drink and hang out with...
