Applied as a guarantor for my daughter a few months ago and had a AWFUL experience.
After our initial inquiry, we were told there would be a $250 refundable holding deposit and a $50 non-refundable application fee per adult, and asked to bring a money order for $350. No problem, I took half a day off of work and went down with my daughter to apply. Showed up with the $350 money order and was told they needed separate money orders for the application fees and holding deposit - $100 and $250. I was frustrated as I'd already taken time off from work to make this happen and now needed to obtain new money orders and start over. We went through the trouble of obtaining new money orders, I took time off from work again, applied for the apartment and were denied.
My daughter was apparently denied due to an inaccurate entry on her credit report. She had lived at Sunset Ridge with her boyfriend a few years prior and they ended up splitting up before the end of the lease. She removed herself from the lease, moved to South Dakota for a few years and all was well as far as she knew.
Sandpiper informed her that there was a report of debt due to prior apartment damage at Sunset Ridge, my daughter went into action and contacted Sunset Ridge immediately.
Sunset Ridge provided her a letter of "free and clear", as they'd made a mistake and reported her in error. They indicated it would take a couple of weeks (17 days) for the inaccurate entry to be removed from her credit report, and offered to call Sandpiper. Sunset Ridge was awesome and most helpful during this situation.
Unfortunately, Sandpiper has now sent me and my daughter to Collections for $150 NSF, accusing my daughter of LYING on her application. My daughter applied for this apartment in good faith, not knowing there was an erroneous entry on her credit record. I was infuriated when they called my daughter a liar.
They cashed both money orders (we are awaiting proof via mail request, but confirmed via Western Union 1-800 number) for the $100 application fee and $250 apartment holding deposit the same week we applied, yet are still sending us to Collections for "NSF". The documentation they've provided references a "mystery" CHECK written almost TWO WEEKS after we applied for the apartment. We wrote no such check, they cashed both money orders we provided days after we applied and they REFUSE to help us untangle this sordid mess!
We've contacted our lawyer and plan to fight this injustice, no matter what it takes. I refuse to let a simple mistake on their part ruin my credit. (I've already taken the 50+ point hit to my credit score and am INFURIATED).
Buyer beware! My personal experience has been TERRIBLE and this was just the APPLICATION PROCESS!
If by some miracle Sandpiper / Greystar Apartments does the right thing and starts to cooperate with us, I will...
Read moreThey Deserve a -5 star and if i could i so would. They may be lost and confused of their outlined legal and ethical obligations but as a well respected Real Estate Broker in the State of Colorado I Certainly do and will gladly be informing the residents located at Copperwood. I pray for the Resignation of The Female Management Staff leaders and that Greystar Accepts it Gracefully. Seperate Complaints will be filed With DORA as well as the Real Estate Commission and whom ever else it may concern. Their staff trades unethical good for reduces in rent, retaliate at those who complain with higher fees, aggressive immoral staff i truly and astonished this has been going on as long as it has without government intervention, residents have emergency maintenance issues not being handled, let alone long standing ones, financial abuse, abuse of power, mismanaged contracts, i Hope GREYSTAR is paying attention and offers a much needed performance review i am unaware if the Female Management Staff Members are uninformed of theire responsibilities and obligations or just blatantly negligent but either way they will gladly be met with the fullest extent of litigation they can be met with. I hope future resident applicants read these reviews and come to an understanding that you will not have a Safe, secure, reliable, environment at copperwood There are Break ins, carjackings, endless damage, laundromats that dont work that get stolen from and broken in, a disgraceful amd disrespectful childish Management staff , shootings in the parking lot where stray bullets hit the cars and alarms go off all nigh, "secure" gates that are opened all day, rats, neglected residents maintenace issues horrible appliances and ammentities and truly disgusting hospitalit. Complete disregard for residents and abuse of power i hope Greystar understands that many of your clients are unhappy with the management youve chosen and theyre asking you to make it right so please stand with them through this and in the meantime i will continue to inform residents at copperwood of their rights and will gracefully offer litigation to provide governmemt intervention and investigations into the staff and management of Copperwood Apartments the corrupt and illegal actions they are partaking in will be met with strict accountability. Residents are unhappy and will continue to be so under this corrupt leadership i am disgusted that this has gone on so saddened that the owners turn blind as this occurs hopefully now eith these new legal forms they...
Read moreI lived at Sandpiper for a year and a half. I chose Sandpiper simply out of location and cost. I would say in the kindest way that "what you pay is what you get". Here are the pros and cons from my experience: CONS: Located on a main road, Sheridan Blvd is always busy and noisy. Depending on what part of the complex you live in, there are train tracks very close by and you will hear the horn throughout the day and night. Toilet flusher broke and had to be changed 3 times. I moved in during the Winter, so when it got warmer and I needed AC, the AC was not working. After it was blowing out cold air, it would drip a lot of water in the pantry area. Work orders completion would not be completed consistently on time. Prior to moving out, I asked and called several times to do a walk through in which I was either told that people were busy or it had to be done after a certain time during the weekdays, or they would return my phone call, which never happened. I never got a walk through and the day I turned in my keys/laundry card, I was not able to get a walk through and a few weeks later, I got hit with a $95 cleaning/damage charge. Personally, I wanted to do the walk through so I knew what I was going to be responsible for paying and I do not like the feeling that I am possibly being taken advantage of with my money. Finally, although the office staff are cordial and nice, they definitely lacked the "customer service" or expectations that I would have perceived to be of standard for apartment complexes. In saying this, I would most likely not recommend Sandpiper as an ideal place for any of my friends to live simply because of the maintenance issues and not-to-par professionalism of the office staff. If there was anyone I would give kudos to, it would be Andrea. She was the only one who was helpful in my opinion.
PROS: Overall, the Sandpiper community were friendly and/or cordial. Everyone tends to keep to themselves. They did a good job of communicating happenings around the complex that we needed to be aware of with the monthly newsletter. The swimming pool was well maintained during the summer and the laundry room worked well. Sandpiper Community was pet friendly although the dogs may not have always been, but it was still inviting for all pets. I thought that parking was always available no matter what part of the complex you lived in. Finally, I liked that Sandpiper was conveniently located to grocery stores, shops and...
