More like 2.5 stars. I love the idea that a local homeowner is putting on a little show like this. It's good for neighborhood morale and brings people together. Having said that, for the $13 I spent to be able to see this thing with my son.... I hate to say it but it just ain't worth it folks. This is something these people should be charging $2 a head for tops.
You wait in line a block away from the yard (I assume because the show prior to yours is happening and they don't want to spoil it for you) with interaction from some of the "characters" dressed in costume. Eventually, you are walked way down the street to where the driveway of the home is, and the show is set up. It was incredibly confusing, we thought what was initially happening in the front yard of this home was some sort of opening to the show. We couldn't see half of what was happening because of items obstructing the view and clouds of fake smoke blowing in our faces. After about 5 or 6 minutes of halfway following what was happening a guy walked up behind our "block" of viewers and shouted "show's over guys, thanks for coming"..... what? What just happened? All of the people in our "showing" were just looking around at each other confused. One woman said aloud "what the hell is going on right now?". Everyone was sort of chuckling.
A valiant effort but it isn't worth your money folks. Especially if you're showing up with a bunch of kids that all need to be paid for. I felt ripped off walking away from this thing. I would go so far as to say these people are way out of line to be charging the prices for admission that they are.
Tip to the folks running this thing - please understand this, once you start charging $ for things like this people are going to have expectations. You guys started the "show" before half of the crowd was even in their designated, respective spots. Then, we weren't even able to see half of what was happening! Also, technically speaking, lining the audience up literally on a public right of way is illegal without an approved traffic control plan. Did you speak with the city about this? Did the city know you were redirecting traffic to avoid colliding with viewers of your show that you had standing...
Read moreI haven't seen many Halloween enthusiasts that come close to the level of detail, scare-factor, and storytelling as the Prism Haunted House. As a local haunt, its hard to know what to expect, but it's safe to say the 2018 haunt blew us away. (Another huge plus, IT'S FREE?!). In previous years I have enjoyed attending various Los Angeles Halloween haunts and events, all of which have been paid to enter. The production quality of the Prism Haunt for a free event shows true dedication to the art and adoration of truly terrifying Halloween haunting.
The haunt was comprised of some impressive props and set work, those which I am sure compare to professional production sets. Some folks in line mentioned they were coming back for their 2nd and 3rd scares which is saying a lot about some of the surprises!
We are so excited to check out year two which is bound to have even more up its sleeve in terms of plot twists and increased fear factor around...
