----UPDATE--- This WAS my go to, after the private equity guys came in, many of the things that made them the best went away. I understand there were supply chain issues but so many of the cool/interesting foods and ingredients are gone. The variety is significantly diminished and I feel like they ran out certain items to replace them with in house branded products. I don't like the Tony's branded chopped garlic, I liked the Laxmi because it was a bigger jar with a better texture. I cant even tell you the last time there was sambal on their shelves, or the large size sesame oil. Last, EVERY SINGLE TIME I buy pre sliced deli meat it is bad within days, and here's why, it just sits there in the danger zone while all the other meat and cheese gets sliced and then it goes into the cooler. The problem is that the packaged meat in the middle takes HOURS to cool back down and by then it should just be thrown out. Tell them you say. I have. They are apologetic but nothing has changed - prices are average, selection is worse, quality problems remain. Unfortunately with all of the consolidation in (monopolies) in the grocery business I expect it will only get worse across the board and that ultimately there will be no independent/regional chains that are worth shopping at.
This is my go to shopping location because they have the right amount of everything and it's generally priced right. The produce is generally fresh/well stocked, the deli is stacked with the cured meats I need, and selection of international stuff is tremendous. I have had great experiences in the fish department, especially if I know what i want / am looking for. The butcher will cut trim to my spec which isn't often but certainly helpful AND of all the grocery stores in the are they have the BEST prices on pork 90% of the time. If you are looking for porcine products this will do you better than jewel/marianos/valli. Last, when i have had problems the store manager ALWAYS steps up, they take your feedback seriously, and want you...
Read moreCan’t say enough about the customer service. I’m forever in debt to Angela and Chris for tracking down an item I fell in love with as treat that essentially is my joy and escape from all the physical and emotional stress of my life right now. I come to Tony’s once a week to stock up on this treat and they always have so many boxes and it never looks like the inventory changes from week to week other than what I buy, so I was totally unprepared to come in today and find all the boxes GONE. I’d checked the expiration dates and figured at the rate I purchased, their inventory would last me until fall. But apparently someone else out there is also addicted 😉 and they cleaned the place out since I was here less than a week ago. So I asked Angela if perhaps the product had been moved to a sale display or endcap or SOMETHING ….and instead of making me feel the need to explain why the disappearance of my comfort treat brought me, a Middle Aged woman, to the verge of tears, as soon as I told her “it’s the only thing that brings me joy right now” she said “THEN WE WILL FIND IT” 😊 THANK YOU, ANGELA 🥹 Anyway, she recruited another wonderful and compassionate employee named Chris who is ordering these items and they will be contacting me when they arrive this week. I am just so grateful for the way they handled it and the grace with which they treated me and my fragile mental state. And I also want to say that the way they handled the situation really helped turn around my week, which was off to a really really bad start even before this incident happened at 9:45 AM on a Monday. I’m trying to hold on to the positive vibes from Angela and Chris and not let the anxiety and stress swallow me back up. In a world where most people choose hatred, rudeness, and selfishness, I am very grateful for people like Angela and Chris who choose to be kind. I definitely recommend this Tony’s —— with this kind of quality employees, you...
Read moreAre used to shop at the Tony’s in Niles area and when I moved to the Arlington Heights area, I had such a good experience at Tony’s that I started shopping at this location, but it looks like Tony’s is falling apart because when I shopped here today, this is my second issue with this grocery store and I will never be shopping here again. My first issue I had with them was that I wanted to get some burgers from the meat department and all the burgers looked like they were starting to go bad so I asked the butcher if he had anymore and he said that he didn’t have anymore and that if I didn’t like what they had, I could go to another store the butcher gave me nothing but attitude, the second issue I had was that I bought some chicken drumsticks that were already prepackaged and when I got home, I noticed that the package opened in the bag and all the drumsticks fell out so I had to go back to the store to get a replacement. they allowed me to replace my item, but I did not appreciate was I asked the guy at Customer Service to call a manager because I wanted to see if I could get compensation, and I told the guy at the Customer Service asked to call a manager because getting compensation would be over the customer service desk paygrade and when I said that the Customer Service associates said that he would definitely call a manager because I was insulting him. I was not insulting him, the only way I will consider to continue shopping. Here is if they retrain all of their employees and better customer service skills. As far as right now I do not recommend anyone shopping here go to Jewel or Marianos or even go to the Amazon fresh grocery store that is going...
