House of Music & Entertainment (HOME Bar) — Restaurant in Wheeling Township

This only gets 1 star because the security was super friendly. It was basically empty when we went, maybe 10 people at the bar. We sit at the bar and get straight up ignored for 10 minutes. The bartender looked at us multiple times and went on her phone instead. Even when we leaned forward asking for service she walked away on her phone. (That should’ve been the giveaway) Gave us eye rolls the entire night. I don’t know if they are short staffed or what. Finally another bartender came over and we ordered our drinks (the menu for tap beer is not updated btw) and waited and waited and we finally wave one bartender over and order food. Tried to get another drink but they look at you and know you need something and walk to opposite direction. There were 10-20 people at the bar at this point still empty. She brings our food out without some of the sides and doesn’t get or offer us more drinks (clearly empty) and so somebody in our party had to eat their full meal with NO drink and we tried waving them down and ordering a drink many times. Another 20+ minutes go by, nothing. our party member went to other side of bar to get a drink and had to wait another 5 minutes. A couple comes and sits next to me and gets up and leaves because they sat there for probably 15 minutes with no service. I get one more drink after trying and failing multiple times (bartender totally ignoring us) and our party member tries and once again goes to other side of bar and waits 15 minutes. Nothing. Tried again where we were sitting. Nope! Couldn’t get a drink at all. Even waving them down (when they’re doing nothing). We decide to just leave (another man sitting next to us NEVER got service and left as well). I have to wave down a security guard to tell the bartender 3 feet from us, we need to close out because I tried countless times already. Last time we came, we had amazing service and the food was great. This time it was the absolute worst service and even the food that wasn’t supposed to be spicy was extremely spicy. We were there over an hour and a half and I got two drinks that’s how long it took with 10-15 people at the bar. Worst service in the world honestly. I can’t imagine when the place is busy! Such a let down. I mean, people came and left without service because we were being totally ignored. At one point the people around us start to laugh because how bad the service was. I’ve been in the service industry before, and this would have never been tolerated. Ignoring people when they first sit down to order drinks and go on your phone instead is unreal. Upon moving to a new area that is much less diverse, unfortunately I knew there would be times where the color of my skin determines the way I am treated. However, it was super unfortunate to even be denied access into the building because of it. Therefore my review is fully dependent on the behavior that was shown prior to even entering. My friends and I had just arrived in the parking lot & was waiting for our last friend to arrive. We had drinks we were finishing as we waited, and the security in the most rudely manner advised us to dump them out and come in the building, no worries. We dumped the cups, called our friend to advise him we were going to have to wait for him inside the door. Before security finished walking off they kept trying to act like we were speaking under our breath to him or something in a “what, what did you say” turning around fashion. So distasteful, like he was gonna do something to us even if we did say anything LOLOLOL!!!! Upon reaching the door, security mockingly “I thought you guys were waiting on someone” and then told us they’re “closed” now and we’re not allowed in. HAHAHA!! How did you JUST come tell us to come in, but now we can’t, you’re closed? Wouldn’t that have been the conversation upon confronting us in the parking lot initially? To inform us the establishment was no longer accepting guests, perhaps at capacity? But that wasn’t the case. Security is for sure a racist, joke, but I can’t see House of Music & Entertainment being any different to have a staff that behaves in that manner.

Editing to add since Kevin has responded, to again further clarify that we dumped our cups without any rebuttal, and was still advised to come inside, therefore we attempted, and then was rejected with 2+ hours until your posted closing time. You aren’t addressing that, because anyone with common sense knows what happened at that moment. There wasn’t a black person in sight, therefore you yourself were NOT outside NOR was one member of your security black, or even anything other than white. How sad honestly as a black man in a place of power to not have a team that is inclusive & diverse. Trust me, I wouldn’t spend my 1,000,000,000th dollar in that establishment. Best...

I enjoyed coming here on Sunday nights. This particular night: 6-12-20, it is outside. Alll staff are very busy in installing an electric extension cord to power up outside flood lamps. The key bartender who waits on me has past me over 8 + times and never comes over to take my order. The lights can wait!! From one CSA to another. Customers come first! I didn't see that here. I am very disappointed!

Two other times in December of 2020 , The place is open during the pandemic. 4 signs state that you have to wear masks when you enter and mingle with the staff or customers. I have only seen 1 person and me wear a mask. The bartenders took my order and twice attempted to make my drink with their mask off. I said to them that I got to go.
