Let me start this review by saying when we first found Menards we thought it was a fantastic store and recommended it to many friends. Imagine how disappointed we were to later find out and have to tell all those same friends the customer service is absolutely terrible and we will never spend any money in that store again or recommend it.
We spent quite a bit of money as we built a garage and decided to buy the garage doors, 3 total as well as two man doors there. We also bought many other items but the issue was with this purchase. We picked these doors up and as you can imagine there were many parts associated with them. We thought we had all of them and took them home to store as due to some delays with our project we could not install them at that time. Well fast forward to when we started installation we realized we had a vertical track and mounting bracket missing. We reached out and got in contact with Menards management as well as provided many pictures. After no confirmed date for several weeks I reached back out on the app and was provided a number to go directly to Ideal doors (the manufacturer) which I did and they were very helpful. Again pictures were provided as well as the order number and all requested details. We were told it was in, only after we called, and my husband went to pick it up. Upon arrival it was not the correct piece it was only a portion of what we were missing. Apparently we required the âvertical track assemblyâ and only the vertical track was provided. I trusted that the âprofessionalsâ would see the pictures and provide the correct thing especially considering when we picked up the doors these were not two separate pieces, the pieces were pre assembled. Again it was another headache to get the corrected piece on order and another 5 weeks. When I called and spoke to the store with the GENERAL MANAGER, who was incredibly rude, it was implied that as the customer it was my fault we didnât check our order was complete when we left. What a joke! The only thing Iâm at fault for was ever trusting that store and the so called âprofessionalsâ. Refusal to ship to our home while we were risking our new radiant heat getting frozen and ruined by freezing temperatures and three separate 4 hour round trips to the store for their mistake is another sign of poor customer service. No attempts were made to provide any compensation.
Save yourself countless headaches, multiple trips to a terrible store, several months delay on your project, and talking with individuals that donât value customers time or business!
Addition to review 1/5 based on response: Luci- I have submitted multiple emails to the Menards customer service team with very poor responses that also seem like the customer service team there does not care and does not value customers or their business! To others that may be reading, communicating with the customer service link provided seems to be worthless. It simply continues to highlight the poor customer service of...
Read moreThis review is for the cabinet and countertop department. The lady I worked with is Julia and she doesn't seem to be familiar with the design process and accounting for overhang on countertops. I've had issues since ordering.
She couldn't figure out hot to do my island countertop. I have a 36x24" cabinet and wanted a a 12 inch over hang as an eating island. I am a firstime countertop and cabinet buyer. I had no idea that the counter needs to be about an inch wider than your cabinet to account for the ledge. Julia failed to tell me this and I ended up ordering a 36x36" counter.
I get home and get ready to install the counter. 1. It wasn't cut to 36" wide it was 35 7/8. 2. the free edges didn't overhang on the sides of the cabinet. it sat on top of edges, raising the counter 1/4" leaving a very noticeable gap.
I didn't order a template because I figured this was super simple, no cutouts or angles, just a basic island top. I already had massive issues with the arrival of the counter to the store, manufacturer sent 2 pieces, paperwork said no endcaps... which I'd ordered it was a nightmare trying to figure out what happened. I don't even know if I should waste my time trying to get a new countertop ordered that seeds properly. Or just go buy an 18" and 15" cabinet for $120. I don't know if this is my fault or the fault of the lady who did my counter order.
Another issue I had was with my main countertop design and template order. I gave Julia a SKU and model numberfor a sink directly from the store. I even snapped a picture of the sink sign in the isle. Well she I guess input a faucet. 2 weeks after placing my order, I got a call explaining the situation. I pulled another sink from the website and gave model and SKU. A week after that, I got another call asking for the same info, I guess lady #2 didn't enter the info. So finally I have a template ordered.
I worked with Melissa the assistant cabinet manager to sort out my countertop issue at pick up. She was great and when I didn't understand why my counter said 6 linear feet but I wasn't able to take both 36x36 prieces, she drew it out which made it click. She was great and super knowledgeable.
If you're gonna order cabinet and/or counters yourself and aren't super knowledgeable on the subject, ask to work with a...

Apparently Iâm the only one who has ever walked into a store, started browsing, decided you had too much to carry and set stuff on a shelf to grab a cart and return to continue shopping.
If you donât know the store layout, they herd you through a spinning bar like at an amusement park, and every other one Iâve been through only goes one way. Carts are near the entrance and once through the bars youâre corralled with the merchandise. Instead of going back through the bars that never seem to rotate the opposite way, or fighting to get through the oncoming shoppers, I decided to go through their exit on the other end of the store: Once youâre corralled inside of the store, your only option to exit is the seemingly two checkout lanes that are open. Everything else is barricaded off. I understand the principle, but this is when my visit to Triadelphiaâs Menards got interesting. I planned to go outside, walk back to the entrance, grab a cart, and go back to my items.
Since I left the products I intended to buy on a shelf that Iâd be returning to no more than a minute later with a cart in tow, I had nothing to purchase. Am I expected to wait in line with nothing in my hands so I can exit your store? After being stopped and trying to explain the situation, I was forced to be escorted back across the store so he could visually see the items Iâd planned to purchase or threatened to call law enforcement. After showing him these items, the only option was for him to take them back to the register to pick up rather than leave them on a shelf, to throw in a cart, that Iâd be returning with shortly to grab more things off of said shelf and continue shopping. Sorry for the confusion, but thank you for the embarrassment of looking like a thief in front of at least 40 people, and then proceeding to take my items away, that again were sitting on a shelf Iâd be returning to in less than a minute. Rather than prolonging the embarrassment of being given âpermissionâ to get a cart as a grown man and walking back in front of all of those people, I left to spend my money elsewhere. Their loss prevention lost them a customer, not that it matters to this...
