If you buy house brands at the bigger name stores, you will love Aldi. It is primarily house brands and they are great quality. Prices are better than WalMart. Here is how they keep costs down: You "rent" a shopping cart by putting a quarter into a slot on the cart that releases it to you. You get your quarter back when returning it to the cart area. So no overhead to retrieve carts all over the parking lot. You also bag and carry out your own groceries. They sell paper and plastic bags for 6-10 cents at checkout, but you can bring your own. There are usually boxes available as they are emptied on the shelves. I figure that I'm going to be handling all of the groceries when I get home anyway, so no big deal. They also don't take time to weigh produce. It all comes pre-packaged (tomatoes in a 4-pack, etc.) so checkout is lightning fast. I buy all of my cheese (including blue cheese and feta) here. I also get my cottage cheese, sour cream, luncheon meats, canned good staple items, chips, spices, sugar, salt, vitamins, toilet paper, fresh cuts of meat, frozen meats, frozen vegetables, frozen entrees, seafood (several varieties of frozen shrimp), etc. You need to pay one visit to Aldi to see the variety, and I would be confident challenging someone to a taste test of Aldi house brands with whatever comparable products that have big brand name advertising behind them. They have one isle with merchandise ranging from cookware to small appliances to toys in season. I haven't tried their selection of cookies and crackers or their coffee yet. Bottom line, visit Aldi at least once and try a few products. I predict you...
Read moreMostly great prices! Have to say, though, avoid the eggs and milk. Cheaper at Wal-Mart as of last week. However, it's generally pretty fast in checkout. Cashiers are friendly and quick! Morning is best if you do have bags as they have more boxes available to use from stocking. I forgot my bags last week, but went in around 11a and they had made some empty boxes available. Really appreciate that effort. Found a lot of great food. Prices are good for these days. Meat is fresh, which is better than Dillons or Wal-Mart. I have found brown meat in the middle of hamburger before. Never here! I will always buy meat here first. Cheaper anyway. Everyone loves saving money, right? On another note. Years ago I met the owner of the Aldi I frequented. That man was so friendly and nice. Wish I could remember his name. He actually suggested a couple items and helped me find them. How often do you see that? Aldi is just amazing and I have to give 5 stars despite the milk and eggs. Besides it's only about an .80 difference for milk. 1.00 more for eggs. May buy them here next time anyway to test quality. Eggs at other stores are hard to find not broken. Anyway, thank you, ALDI and employees for always making shopping here a...
Read moreALDI is a great food store overall. They sell produce, canned, and shelf life goods here. Their prices are very inexpensive so it is worth shopping here over other retailers such as Wal-Mart or Target. ALDI's keeps low prices for you by having a synchronized process from start to finish. First, you put in a coin to get a cart. Next they load your cart directly, instead of using bags--which they would have to buy. Finally, you put your cart back in the cart line to get your coin back. In addition, there are no security guards like Walmart or Costco scanning your goods. Whether you are a tourist or a local check out ALDI's supermarket. You will...
