First off, don't fall for the urgency they falsely project with their sales pitch. Don't ever pay full price because there is some kind of sale or discount to be had nearly every weekend. I began my search here months before pulling the trigger and each time I came back (4 times total) the price of my chair was the same with the sales. While most of the associates I encountered were friendly, I only purchased my chair here after visiting every other furniture store in town and being unable to find exactly what I wanted. In my opinion, the quality of the furniture does not live up to the expense, so I was having a hard time spending so much. The only reason I decided to go with this chair is because it perfectly matches a chair I purchased at Nebraska Furniture Mart. My experience at Nebraska Furniture Mart, a place not nearly as "upscale" as La-Z-Boy, was so much more satisfying. Because I was just buying a chair and ottoman, I didn't want to pay $100 for delivery. I could tell right away they didn't approve and were not willing to do anything to make it easy for me to pick up from the store. They unbox/unwrap the furniture and advise you that you'll need to bring your own packing materials or blankets. Also, they refuse to help you load the furniture. They didn't tell me that, even after going thru the contract as they had me initial different agreements. I had to read it later tucked away at the bottom of the disclosures. However when they called to tell me to pick up, she said "there is no one here to help you load so if you need help bring it with you." I think it's ridiculous that a place that charges so much for their goods can't lift a finger to put a chair in a truck bed. Nebraska Furniture Mart wrapped my chair in plastic and loaded it in my SUV for me and I paid significantly less for a kickback recliner than La-Z-Boy wanted. When we picked up the items, they didn't ask for ID to verify who I was. My furniture was also tucked in and around lots of other furniture, so we had to move someone else's item so that we could inspect my pieces, and the associate just watched. This experience has just left a sour taste in my mouth. Also be aware that you have 3 days from sale date NOT delivery date to get a refund/exchange. That's only if you have to wait for the furniture to get into town, not for floor models or clearance. Once you take it, it's yours. Overall, I'm happy with my furniture but not with the store or...
Read moreThe most unpleasant sales experience I've ever had. My wife and I had been to the store previously as part of visiting a bunch of furniture stores to look at sofa sets. When we returned to La-Z-Boy, we had a set picked out and were ready to buy. After telling our salesman this (I believe his name was Hiv), he proceeded to TRY TO SELL US the couch we ALREADY said we wanted. So instead of making a quick sale with customers who were ready to buy, he wasted time on an unnecessary and uncomfortable sales pitch.
After politely sitting through this awkward interaction, he took us to the back to begin the actual sale. This was even worse, as he began telling painfully awkward stories about his wife. Then he asked us very personal questions about when we would start having babies. He continued to spout some pseudo-scientific nonsense about bodily rejuvenation as it pertained to my wife's ability to conceive. This was all HIGHLY inappropriate and made us both extremely uncomfortable. I finally reached my limit of politeness and asked him to stop. He didn't take the hint and continued until I asked him again to stop telling us the best way to have babies.
And on top of all of this, someone who appeared to be a manager (who was actually very nice and professional) learned that we'd had a different salesperson on our first visit. We heard him tell Hiv that he'd be splitting the commission, and Hiv began to argue this point in front of us.
All around, this was a very bad experience. If the couch there had not been exactly what we wanted, I would have left. I probably won't go back to La-Z-Boy but if I ever do, I will leave if this guy is anywhere in sight. Do not let Hiv help you, it was absolutely awful.
Five stars for the furniture, but the service knocked it...
Read moreStory time with a review:
My mother, brother and myself decided that for my father's birthday, we'd surprise him with a new recliner. His old one has seen better decades, and while we own some La-Z-Boy, they're rather expensive and we weren't sure how rare a chair we were hunting. My family is tall, with the men all over 6 foot, so this posed a certain degree of difficulty for my mother in finding a chair that would have the necessary length as she is almost a foot shorter. She is a saint, we pick on her mercilessly.
So there were a few outings where she and I would go hunting for the reclining throne, and let me tell you no where in Wichita has the selection that La-Z-Boy has, let alone non-commission sales staff that genuinely look for what you need and not what will make the associate the most on the sale! That got tiring real quick...
Now, you'd think that'd warrant a 5 star review, and I'd agree whole heartily, but this was to be a surprise gift, so no delivery, no paying with cards he could see, but alas they asked for a back up number and we gave the home line. Verizon cell service at my home isn't the best, and I received a voicemail instead of the call which stated they'd try the other number on file. I think you see where this is going...
Likely the call wasn't done by the same individual, so they couldn't have known the steps we'd taken, but should you be looking to pull such a masterful gift and surprise, don't leave a number that can be intercepted! (And/or be proactive in calling on delivery day instead of waiting by the phone)
As for the experience, 10/10 would go here again, and first instead of sixth! The selection and friendliness of the staff cannot be understated! I'm just petty that my surprise failed and...
